I was a guest for 9 nights. My room was on 8th floor and next to elevators. So this is my take: Customer Service: Excellent, they were very helpful addressing all my requests. The personnel are kind and polite. Cleanliness: I like the daily cleaning, clean towels and floors. Breakfast: Delicious Greek buffet, a variety of good food to choose....

The moment I visit a new hotel, I immediately reach out for my camera and get good shots of the room so that other members on Tripadvisor can benefit. However after coming back from a holiday, one gets so busy and it becomes difficult to post a review immediately. Hence this review is coming in three months late. We had...

Just a block up from Omonia, you are right in the middle of things. Lobby and elevator is run of the mill, but the rooms are clean, updated, and well furnished. Modern bathroom. The breakfast buffet was very good in a nice large dining area.

I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and it is very good located in a lively part of Athens. The view from the balcony is, if you make a giraffe-neck, veeeery nice, because you see Akropolis. But all night long there is rumour, because there is much traffic doesn´t end. The window and balconydoor didn´t help. For two nights...

Polis Grand Hotel is a very good choice for professional and leisure trips. The area isn;t very pretty but you can feel safe. The rooms are clean and renovated with very comofortable beds, spacious bathrooms and modern decoration. The breakfast served and their kitchen in general serves high quality standards. Also, very kind and helpful staff.

we chose this hotel due to it's location- very easy access to the metros and the proximity to Plaka square where we went every night during our stay to enjoy a meal and people watch. Don't expect luxury or a great big room-the rooms is pretty tight and so is the bathroom but we didn't mind it since by the...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.

“Upgrade to Executive, if you can. This got us a room on the top floor, set back from the street with a large outdoor private patio (with unobstructed views of Acropolis and Lycabettus hill.) Warning: until midnight, chattering people exiting the rooftop bar use the elevator on this top floor and you'll hear them in your room.”
