We only chose the place as it had good price and location. Down sides: no wifi in rooms, dingy bathroom and shower facilities and rain made it inside from the roof to the steps. Staff was nice. Additional commission if paying by card.

If you have the money to splash there's plenty of high quality hotels around the city which are centrally located but If you are on a budget or almost out of money as I was during most of my visits to Athens then I can make you aware of Hostel Zeus. Hostel Zeus is probably the cheapest hostel I've found...

We stayed here for 3 nights (6-9 march'15) and managed to check in 1hr before the agreed time so it was a good start. The room was clean, had air con which we didn't use (you have to ask for the remote control @ the reception, free of cost), towels are also free of cost but you have to ask...

Accommodation at Hostel Zeus is very basic, and it can get a bit cold at night, but the price is unbeatable. More importantly, the hostel is located just a few blocks from Monostraki Square, a central social area in the city just beneath the Acropolis and no more than 10 minutes walk from all the major tourist destinations. The staff...

You definetely get what you pay for. The hotel is not luxury or super clean but for that price we couldn't have asked for more. Position is amazing. Receptionist are kind and always ready to help. Consider it as a place where to go back only for sleeping.

We arrived very late in Athens and needed a place to sleep in order to take the train the next morning to Thessaloniki. We arrived around midnight and had booked the room on the same day. This already caused some confusion at the check-in as the receptionist had to find our reservation first, it took him 10 minutes, as in...

We spent one night in the double ROOM 24 (30€), located on the top floor, just in front of the non existant "bar" (merely a crapy terrasse). This room was noisy, dirty and unconfortable: - disgusting spots on the walls (coffe, coke or.... We didn't want to know...) - dreadfull view on the "court yard" (That can't be described. You...

This hostel is great - for 12 euros a night I was able to go on a very good free walking tour hosted by George and the hostel organised for me to go on a day excursion to Delphi! I stayed in a female dorm which was fine, the decor of the place is great and I loved that each...

So you people read the reviews and complaints - well that's all true to a certain extend. What's true - no locker, showers were so so and there's extra fee for blanket and also air conditioning What's not true - the showers worked, the doors lockable and the lights are all working However I stayed at first floor so it's...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
