The Fresh Hotel has interesting decor, nice rooms, lovely breakfast, great staff - the receptionists are especially helpful, good views from the top floor and is an excellent base in Athens. It is central and close to all the major sites. I was warned by Athenian friends that the area the hotel is in is unsafe late at night, but...

Good location for exploring Athens by foot. Close to the main sites, the food hall, parlament, acropolis u.s.w I really liked the roof terrace, good view, of the ruin on that famous hill. Also, breakfast is rich and fresh, Rooms a bit small, i had a standard on floor 2. a bit low in the building, I could hear traffic,...

My boyfriend and I recently visited Athens, and after much research we chose the Fresh Hotel. This hotel is amazing! It is very modern, bright and clean....and the location is great. The very best part is the rooftop pool and bar. It is modern and very well designed. We could have spent our entire day up there. The views are...

A really good surprise, even after reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews of our predecessors. Perhaps owing to the somewhat dilapidated surroundings of Athina and Sophocleous streets, the modern cool and colorful deco of the hotel, its large beds and its bright new bathrooms make one feel very privileged... Not to mention the 9th floor bar, restaurant and swimming-pool, and the...

This hotel is a very good choice if you're planning on a trip to Athens. The interior is very nice and modern. Rooms are big enough with a good air-conditioning. The breakfast is excellent with a great variety of freshly cooked food. The rooftop bar and pool are superb and the view is great. The only complain would be the shower,...

Fresh hotel is an excellent choice for a stay in Athens. Just 5 min walk from the Monastiraki station and the square. The location is very good for walking, tourist bazaar, visiting old quarter Plaka with many cute restaurants and of course - the Acropolis itself. The hotel is very modern and very nice - big rooms, large bed, funky...

Fresh hotel is definitely a hotel trying to be modern in Athens. While not the most glitzy, the lobby was well done and rooms were clean and spacious enough for European standards. One major complaint would be the bathroom. While small, not the smallest in Europe, but the shower has a rainfall head and no door so water gets everywhere....

It is not breathtaking at the Fresh Hotel but still a good choice. The perception might be better in a more established neighborhood. The staff is friendly and speaks several languages. The lobby and rooms are clean, although all is a bit narrow. The roof-top-terrace is very nice and stylish with cool beats in the background, and yes, there is...

Very nice hotel with comfortable and clean rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is very good, a few minutes walk to Monastiraki square and Metro station, although our Greek friends say that it is not the best area to stay. Breakfast is great. Great view from the rooftop terrace. Drinks are not the cheapest however. Nice swimming pool (VERY...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
