Myself and my fiance stayed here for 4 nights from 30th Aug to 3rd Sept. We enjoyed our stay, it was in a fab location in Plaka round the corner from lots of lovely restaurants and bars which we went to every night. It was quite quiet on the hotel's street though. Was within walking distance of the Acropolis and...

Ideally located within walking distance of the Acropolis and close to the centre of town, the major attractions and the tourist area. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and made me feel at home. The terrace on the bar has a great view of the acropolis and serves alcohol and soft drinks well into the evening. I'm keen to...

Adonis is in a great location, just steps away from all the action in the Plaka neighbourhood & close to Syntagma Square. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, I enjoyed the view of the Acropolis from the bar/breakfast rooftop whilst sipping an icy-cold beer and loved the yoghurt at breakfast. I was, like many others, disappointed at the...

The Hotel is very well located in plaka, a charming neighborhood. But there is a BIG problem, like in all greece, people smokes like hell. Is unbearable, the smokes invaded our room, my girlfriend, who is allergic, had a really bad time. We talk with the manager but he didn't do nothing. The breakfast was lame. And they have a...

I am normally happy to have a hotel just as a base to go back to in the evenings, but this was such an uncomfortable stay that I dreaded bed time! We stayed for a week, and were given a room on the first floor with 2 single beds for the adults and a cot bed for the baby. The...

Adonis is not fancy, but it has several great features that would draw me back again: 1) The folks who man the front desk are just great. We arrived bleary-eyed from our overnight flight and found our room awaiting us at 11:00 am. They were very helpful with maps and with orienting us to the sights, and in advising us...

I am lying in this hotel bed after again having a 2nd night with absolutely no sleep. So I thought I'd give my honest feedback. Upon check in we were met by a friendly young man who would turn out to be the only bright light from this miserable hotel. He told us we had the best hotel room in...

This hotel is simple to the bones but the location is charming and convenient and the rooftop is small but perfect for the sunset. It's walkable to nearly everything and we would definitely stay again!

Excellent hotel to use as a base for sightseeing and eating out in Athens. A quick and easy walk, just a couple of short city blocks, from Syntagma Square and Metro. Situated in Plaka the older part of the city. Near The Acropolis, Roman Agora and near the Acropolis Museum. www.athensguide.com/plaka.html. A lively atmosphere from the moment you step into...

Adonis hotel is located in a nice area (Plaka). Beautiful view to Akroplis from the roof top. Very friendly staff. Lot of noise from walking area - every sound came through the walls and door. In our room at 4th floor, Air Condition is controlled from reception, not very smart! Stayed also in 205 - here the AC was self...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
