Apart from the slowest lift this hotel provided a seamless stay. All staff were very friendly and joyful especially the staff at breakfast. The rooms were neat with nice decor. The location is great and you can walk to most places or a train station is close by if you wish to go further.

The Hera Hotel worked out very well for our short stay in Athens. Our room was definitely small, but it was clean and fine for two New Yorkers used to little living space. The man at the reception desk was extremely helpful and always gave us great directions. The elevator was pretty slow, but we were on the first floor,...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hera hotel for two nights. Amazing location! Super central and close to the Acropolis. The stay was fairly comfortable and the staff was quite nice and helpful with helping us with our tour confirmations. The only downside was that our booking did not include free breakfast. For similar pricing, we stayed at another hotel...

If you're going to stay in Athens, you must stay at Hera Hotel! I cannot find adequate words to describe the kind, helpful staff, the perfect location, and the quiet, beautiful accommodations. All this and a fabulous breakfast as well make this a must stay in Athens. Every part of the experience of staying at the Hera was exceptional!

We arrived at the Hera hotel around 9.30 am after a long haul from Australia hoping to drop our luggage off so we could check in later. The front reception indicated that some other guests had left early and that they would ring and get our room ready in half an hour !! We were so appreciative, but the best...

The Hotel Hera is a nice three-star hotel. It is not fancy and it is not chic. It does not offer outstanding toilet articles, soft towels or high thread-count sheets. It does not offer an ornate or interesting lobby or breakfast room. The breakfast itself is passable; like most of our other hotels in Greece/Crete, it suffers from old-looking, overripe...

I booked the Hera based on the review score on Booking.com and it's proximity to the Acropolis. Having never been to Athens before I wasn't sure which area I should stay in so I chose a hotel close to the Acropolis. The hotel is located only minutes from the Acropolis and the Plaka which is an area of shopping/dining completely...

Dear guest, Thank you for your review. I am really sorry to hear that you didnt enjoy your stay with us. Our hotel location, Acropolis area, is considered one of the best locations for people visiting our city. Indeed, it could be considered, touristic, however, the proximity to all major sites and places is always appreciated by our guests. Regarding...

This hotel is so well located you can walk to so many places, shopping, restaurants. Nice, friendly staff. Room was fine, with a small balcony to sit out and have a drink. Breakfast inclusion was just fine, service was excellent. Plenty of choice for us. Only thing to watch out for is the high bath tub when you shower, but...

My wife and I stayed in the Hera hotel for two nights prior to embarking on a cruise from Piraeus. We loved the Hera Hotel; it is only a few minutes walks straight down the street from the Acropolis Metro Station and only 5 mins from Plaka and the Acropolis/Acropolis Museum, not to mention a plethora of excellent restaurants, cafes...

My wife and I stayed at the Hera for just over a week, and we enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean, as well as the linens. The hotel has a neat feel to it, a classy style that creates an old school atmosphere. The major selling point is the location though. It's a stones throw from the acropolis...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
