My boyfriend and I booked one night at Hera Hotel for our last day in Greece, after a tour around Cyclades. The hotel is very nice, perfectly located close to the underground station (stop Acropolys) and just 5-8 mins walking from the Acropolys and its museum and it allowed us to visit easily all the area even if we were...

The Hera Hotel was just satisfactory, location was good but the hotel really needs updating. Carpets were filthy, bar was not open, ever and the elevator quits working so you may have to carry your bags up and or down several floors. Staff was nice.

Dear guest, Thank you for posting your review. I am really sorry to read that you didnt enjoy your stay with us. Kindly note that we are under a renovation process, where we are changing all room carperts to wooden floors. However, all remaining rooms with carpets are thoroughly cleaned once a week, or as often as needed. Please be...

I was shocked when I stepped into our room at the Hera -- there was barely enough floor space for the two of us, much less our rolling duffels and carry-ons. I ended up stacking the suitcases between my side of the bed and the wall -- a tight squeeze. To get into bed, I had to crawl up from...

We stayed just for one night. It is very close to the main attractions in Athens; Acropolis museum, Acropolis and plaka. The subway station is near, just 100 meters . The bedroom was small , but with everything you need. Breakfast is complete and tasty , and the place is very nice. I think it is a very good option...

My wife and I visited Hotel Hera and stayed for 2 nights. The location is excellent - walkable to Acropolis, Plaka and great restaurants. The room was small, but clean. We stayed on the 5th floor with nice views of the Acropolis - definitely worth it. The hotel restaurant was quite good - reasonable prices, good selection and very delicious...

My 14-year-old daughter and I spent a night at the Hera Hotel when we arrived in Athens, and before we left to tour the Peloponnese. The location turned out to be perfect for us, without the menfolk...lots of Plaka shopping choices and simple dinners nearby, all an easy stroll down the street. The hotel is also literally across the street...

Apart from the slowest lift this hotel provided a seamless stay. All staff were very friendly and joyful especially the staff at breakfast. The rooms were neat with nice decor. The location is great and you can walk to most places or a train station is close by if you wish to go further.

The Hera Hotel worked out very well for our short stay in Athens. Our room was definitely small, but it was clean and fine for two New Yorkers used to little living space. The man at the reception desk was extremely helpful and always gave us great directions. The elevator was pretty slow, but we were on the first floor,...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hera hotel for two nights. Amazing location! Super central and close to the Acropolis. The stay was fairly comfortable and the staff was quite nice and helpful with helping us with our tour confirmations. The only downside was that our booking did not include free breakfast. For similar pricing, we stayed at another hotel...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
