Location, location, location. Hera hotel is located within walking distance to everything we wanted to see while visiting Athens. There are lots of great restaurants and markets that are very close and the restaurant on the top floor of the hotel has a breathtaking view of the city at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and...

The Hera is perfectly situated close to the metro and one of entrances to the Acropolis. Close by, along the main street to the Acropolis, is a multitude of restaurants offering excellent breakfasts for a much more reasonable price than that charged for the Hera's less that spectacular breakfast. I would skip Hera's 15 Euro breakfast. The roof-top bar/restaurant has...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. I am sorry to see that you were not fully satisfied by our hotel. Regarding your comment on our breakfast, I believe that a 15 euro per person charge, for a full Buffet breakfast is considred a very competitive and even low rate. Additionally the majority of the comments that we receive are...

My husband and I were supposed to stay for one night while in transit from Mykonos to Toronto. We had booked a non-refundable room rate. Unfortunately, my husband was quite ill in Mykonos and it was advised by a doctor that we delay our travel plans, meaning we would be unable to have our one night stay at this hotel....

Dear Mme, Thank you for your review. I am really sorry to see that even though we offered you an alternative for your reservation, you were not satisfied with it. Regarding your comments, it is unfair to state that we only replied to your email after your phone call. Your email was received on Sunday afternoon and we replied few...

The Acropolis and many major sites are within walking distance from the hotel, plus tons of restaurants. The staff friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help us find a converter for my husbands c-pap machine. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with many choices. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

It's in the perfect location. Just steps from everything but then quiet at night. Staff is great and restaurant was awesome! Getting in/out of shower is a bit difficult and we had a little mold in ours but that could be overlooked. Go see Christos next door at the bar for some drinks and mezzes.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at hera Hotel exploring Athens for the first time. Great location very close to Acropolis MRT, Acroplis museum , walking distance to Parthenon, Plaka district and many good restaurants. Breakfast is simple but good in a nice setting. Rooms are small but to be expected, beds were hard but got use to after...

Standard room was very small for 3. Acropolis Jr. Suite is pricey but worth the view and extra space. Hotel staff friendly and helpful with sightseeing and restaurants. Would return for another visit in the junior suite. Breakfast was very good.

Great location - perfect for the Acropolis as you can't get much closer and very near a subway stop. Nice Bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel serves a good breakfast, has nice friendly staff and was well priced. A small but modern, well decorated room (we didn't opt for the Acropolis view but did use the restaurant at the top...

My stay at Hotel Hera (May 6 - 9) and May 16 was as lovely as anyplace I've stayed. The room was clean, bright and cheerful, the bed comfortable, and what a nice balcony! It was cleaned well daily. The waitresses at The Peacock served delicious food, and remembered me when I returned. The view of the Acropolis was magnificent,...

After being put into a tiny room for the first night of a 7 night stay, things got sorted out and our proper room was made available. Still not sure if it was a hotel or booking service stuff up. Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
