Stayed at Hotel Amalia in Athens and found it to be immaculate, very convenient to all transportation, extremely helpful staff. The best place to stay in Athens. Don't bother to look anywhere else, because you'll be wasting your time. All this, and it wasn't expensive.

This hotel is a 2 minute walk from the subway at Syntagma square, giving you access to the full city. The modern design was one of our better city break finds. A great deal through Expedia included a very good continental breakfast with excellent choices, including a couple of hot dishes ( bacon and eggs) Our room was a good...

We stayed our last night here before flying out the next morning. It was a beautiful hotel, right by Syntagma square where the airport bus picks up. The room had some nice amenities that others didn't. The breakfast was included and had just about everything you could imagine. Great deal!

I stayed here from June 20-22nd! It's a great hotel, very pretty and rooms were modern and very clean! I ESPECIALLY LOVED the spacious balcony that they provided us with, it was overlooking Syntagma Square (where parliament and changing of the guards is) and beautiful palm trees and gorgeous mountains in the background. It was lovely. Although cars were traveling...

easy to walk to all the major sights and neighborhoods. hop-on busses stop nearby as well as underground, busses, taxis etc. a garden across the street in the other side of which are museums and the Olympic stadium. Great restaurants only a few minutes' walk. Get a room on the 6th floor and head up to the roof at sunset...

It's all very nice. The staff is very very helpful and did an amazing job fixing us tickets for some concert. The room is small but nice. The BIG downfall is the shwer. It's so small that when you open the door you think it's not there. Standing inside you can't reach your feet (and I'm slim...) really frustrating.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The location is a two minute walk to Syntagma metro station. Seriously one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept on in a hotel. Even though it was winter while I was there, it was nice to have a balcony to sit out on. My only complaint would be the wifi. Our...

Wife had an accident in bathtub. It was due in great part due to poor design of tub & placement of anti-slipping material. But, even if we assumed that it was a freak accident, I was not prepared to see how non-helpful staff was. My wife was bleeding as she broke teeth, lips & bridge of nose. I procured the...

Slipped in the very narrow tub/shower, broke my tooth, split the upper and bottom lips, broke my nose (blood), and bruised my left inner thigh. The entire accident was completely ignored by the staff.

Just one word to describe our (my wife and my) experience at Athens with the Amalia Hotel: EXCELLENT! Really enjoyed the service, the location and the facilities. We felt that we definitively got the ROI (Return On Investment) and highly recommend Amalia to everybody. What a great hotel! Etty and Uri Farkash, Israel

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
