It's not the typical luxury hotel. Especially the rooms looking to the street are loud and not that comfortable. Breakfast could also be better. Other than that the hotel offers a great jacuzzi area facing the Acropolis! Great restaurant!

I stayed here for 5 nights in December and was happy with my choice. Things I liked: The hot tub on the roof is great for relaxing after walking around the city all day. Loved it! The staff was very friendly and helpful (reception as well as housekeeping) The lobby is a nice place to relax, and have a snack/drink....

Conveniently located near the Acropolis and the Metro. Enjoyed the compliment breakfast options. Dining at the rooftop Point A restaurant is a must for impressive views. Wifi service in the lounge at the bar was better than in our hotel room. The Acropolis Museum is steps away. Would stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for 8 days in November 2016. The Herodion Hotel is a great place to stay while in Athens. It's in walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast in the morning was very good with many options.

+ wonderful location, just in the walking distance to every touristic attraction. + cozy lobby + friendly reception + wonderful view on Acropolis from roof bar + good breakfast + good price - very small room. - dated furniture and interiors. - the room in groundfloor was overlooking the tall wall, so, even open windows didn't let fresh air come...

Very bad experience with the management checked into Herodoin hotel in Athens on the 27th October 2016 upon arrival I was asked for my credit card for pre authorization and when I checked out on 30th October paid the full amount in cash . The next day I got an email from my bank that I have made a transaction...

Stayed here few nights. The staff in reception Maria was excellent and friendly. The hotel is located next to acropolis and the acropolis museum. There are plenty of bars and restaurants near by but you must walk 20 min to get to the Main Street. The rooms are reasonable size but it's located next to a school. We were woken...

Very handy for the town and the Acropolis trams & buses & metro plus cabs!! Roof top hot tubs with views onto the Parthenon with a glass of vino a bit special however the dinning experience left a lot to be desired from the food to the question of how we were going to pay before we had even had...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
