After having high expectations and being assured of a larger than normal room for a single traveller, I was so disappointed to open the door to my tiny room. I had paid a much higher price (as I was a single guest) and had booked many months beforehand, with my travel agent particularly asking for and being assured of, a...

Dear lelba Though I am glad to read that you were pleased with your early check in possibility, breakfast selection, and free coffee and tea we offer, I am obviously disappointed you were expecting certain things we do not advertise. Our single rooms are smaller than the standard twin, but new bathrooms are of similar size. As we were fully...

The Plaka hotel is located in the centre of Athens, with lots of restaurants close by and within easy walking distance of the major shops and the Acropolis. The view from the rooftop bar is breathtaking, with "wow" being the usual comment made when seeing it for the first time and there are comfortable seats for viewing. The bar is...

We arrived about 10:00 am tired and bedraggled after a squished, 9 hour flight. Amazingly, our room was ready for us! We were greeted with fruit and a lovely bottle of wine, and just as promised, an amazing view of the Acropolis! The hotel has a terrific location, near restaurants and shops. We could walk everywhere easily! Great breakfasts, beds...

I recently stayed here back in March on my first trip to Athens and this hotel was in the center of everything. Within walking distance to all the major sites. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly.

Recently stayed at Plaka Hotel for the second time and enjoyed our visit just as much as the first. The hotel is in a superb location; the superior rooms are spacious with a fantastic view of the Acropolis; the rooftop bar perfect for a sunset drink and all the staff wonderfully friendly --- definitely my pic of hotels in Athens!!

We arrived at the hotel after traveling over night to find we were missing a wallet and a passport. They had been pick pocketed on route to the hotel. Hotel staff went out of their way to assist us and offered knowledgeable advice in canceling cards and contacting our embassy. Breakfast at the hotel is excellent, staff discuss plans and...

This hotel is right in the centre of historic Athens and the roof bar has wonderful views of the Acropolis. The best thing about this hotel is the breath taking view on the Acropolis - from some of the rooms - and most if all, from the roof terrace, especially at night (there is a bar). Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
