Athens Center Square hotel captivates guests with its clean, comfortable rooms boasting splendid Acropolis views, although the rooms are occasionally described as basic and small. The rooftop terrace draws high praise for its vistas, yet some guests miss amenities like kettles. Its prime location is consistently celebrated for easy access to attractions and transport. While the hotel's service earns accolades for its warm, efficient staff, opinions on the atmosphere are mixed, with some calling for updates. Overall, many regard the hotel as a budget-friendly option that delivers good value.

The first strong point of Athens Center Square is the location, in the center of the city, in the midst of an open market we thoroughly enjoyed, and several places of interest within walking distance.

The second strong point of the hotel was the staff, who were very friendly and helpful. They gave me excellent advice on local restaurants and shopping, great places to check out for tourism, and were able to help us with tickets and booking tours.

They also have an excellent breakfast each morning with a variety ranging from American staples like eggs to local favorites such as halva.

The room itself was very nice and kept clean. We were on the eighth floor with a balcony facing Lycabetus Hill and the view was spectacular! It was well worth paying extra for the balcony and the view, which was how we ended each day, buying nuts or olives in the market for a snack as we watched the city from our balcony.

Stayed for 4 nights- the hotel is located near a very busy local market, which we didn't mind, but the area can feel a little sketchy, especially at night. The room is quite small with very little room for clothing storage, so you mostly have to live off your suitcase. It would be nice if there were some small shelves in the washroom, to put toiletries on. However, the view to the Acropolis is great and the breakfast is amazing! The place is very clean and the staff extremely helpful and kind. If you go at the end of December, like we did, keep in mind that everything is closed in Athens on Jan. 1, so need to get food into the room in advance form dinner on Dec. 31 and lunch on Jan. 1.

Recently took the family to Athens for a few days and stayed here, it is a strange entrance but great hotel for the price, we had four rooms on the 1st floor that were very clean and comfortable, great sized showers and beds, with a much needed fridge in our rooms, no kettle, not a problem as I bought one for 10 Euro at the shop next door, unfortunately our rooms on the lower floors had no views to admire but not a problem because the small but cosy roof terrace, which has a fantastic 360 degree view of Athens including the Parthenon, it takes a moment to take it in when you first see it, wow! Staff were very helpful and informative about travel, local food and tourism, they helped us have a very good stay. As for sightseeing, it is right in the heart of everything you'll want to see within walking distance, no need for taxis. Rooms were quiet at night and the local market outside was great for fresh fruit everyday, such a friendly vibe everywhere we went, safest I've ever felt in another city, day or night, just avoid speaking to the homeless dotted around the area as most are drug addicts and we didn't understand the graffiti everywhere but the locals except it and it wasn't an issue once you see it. Great place to stay and have a great breakfast each day and wander off and sightsee, will definitely stop here again!!!

We travelled to Athens & stayed at the Athens Center Square Hotel May 12 – 14/24. This hotel’s location located a short distance down a side street from a main street was ideal for travelling by foot to restaurants, shops, the markets, etc. However, our cab driver did get lost trying to find the hotel although he was given the address. Some other tourists said their cab driver also had trouble locating the hotel. The front of the hotel appears to look like an entrance to a grocery style store as there are sliding doors plastered with pictures of produce to enter through.
Once through these doors, it opens up to the clean, orderly lobby & the front desk. The employees at the front desk were friendly & competent, patiently answering our questions!
We stayed in a room on the 4th floor. The room was clean, with 2 double beds that were comfortable. We had a large window that could be opened, that gave us a view of the street across from the hotel. We also had a bar sized refrigerator & a safe. The Wi-Fi worked well & our room was cleaned daily. We enjoyed the roof top terrace where we could look out at the city & took great pictures of the Acropolis during the day & night. We also enjoyed socializing up there with other travelers staying at the hotel.
The morning buffet that was included had lots of variety to suit all tastes & the staff in the dining room were constantly ensuring that tables were cleaned & sufficient foodstuff was available. We felt “well taken care of”.
A Greek restaurant was very conveniently located just a short distance from the hotel. The food was very good, good value & cheap cost. After visiting sites & doing a lot of walking this restaurant was greatly appreciated due to the close location to the hotel!
I would recommend anyone to stay here that is looking for a friendly, well-ran budget style hotel in a great location.

The location is absolutely perfect, and easy to access from airport with metro. No changes needed. Staff friendly, breakfast ok. Rooms clean. And we had the most amazing view of akropolis from our room on the 8 the floor.

However it was very noisy from several different things. We had a room next to the elevator, and could hear every time someone took the elevator. The toilet was making noise all night so we had to shut the water flow off to be able to sleep. There is a roof top for guests on top of the 8 th floor rooms. Which is nice for the guests but we heard very loudly when someone went up there moving chairs to sit down.
Rooms get pretty warm even though it was in November, but air con was turned off and not possible to turn on. We had to have the window open to cool down, resulting in loads of mosquitos, wind noises and noises more load from outside.

We booked this hotel because it was nearby the hotel where our friends stayed (which was fully-booked). This gave us the opportunity to compare. Our room was small, the furniture tired, the airco unsufficient, bathroom squeezy, and no view at all (just an brick wall). At the reception they pointed out that we had an 'ecoroom' so that it was not possible to get another room with a view. The rooftop terras was disappointing dull and old, and with no ambiance at all. The breakfast offered plenty of stuff but was not exceptional. The breakfastroom was not beautiful enough to enjoy sitting. The hotel is renovated with a new lobby, new bathrooms, but the corridors en rooms were painted in fresh colours. Good thing: the beds, sheets and towels were ok. The entrance is right above the market and that is not the cleanest place ever. Our friends hotel offered at the same price a higher standard and was nearer to the Acropolis. Everyday we enjoyed the best cocktails ever on theirs lovely design rooftop. Conclusion: look for another hotel in the same price categorie with a beautiful rooftopbar, and you will probably be better off.

This was my second stay at Athens Center Square Hotel and it was as good as the first. Location is fantastic in the old marketplace with a great restaurant at the corner and easy walk to Monesteri and metro.
It is a budget hotel - so don't expect luxury and can be a little rough around the edges, but the price is good and the staff is fantastic.
From the roof-top bar you get as good a view of the Acropolis as you have from any luxury hotel with friendly service and good prices at the bar.
Breakfast included in the rate and was excellent with a large variety of fresh local items plus standard international options.
Highly recommended if you want great value, comfortable rooms and fantastic staff. Not luxury, but my choice in Athens every time!

This stay was a 10/10! The hotel is >10 minutes from Monastiraki, a main train station in the centre of Athens. I travelled as a solo female traveller and only was around the hotel at daytime and didn’t worry about a thing. The staff is incredibly kind, from cleaning ladies, receptionists and the lovely lady ok the rooftop bar, which offers amazing views of Akropolis and the sunset. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for an affordable stay in Athens and wants to experience the Greek hospitality! It‘s cleaned daily and the breakfast is just fine.
Thank you very much🙏🏻

If I could give a zero I would have.

I’ve nothing positive to say about this ‘hotel’, I travel a lot and this is thee worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Zero charisma, underwhelming check-in lobby, the decoration is putrid, the whole hotel is dated and past it’s ’sell by date’. Everything is cheap, budget. No refreshments, tea, coffee provided in the room, very sparse and unwelcoming. The internet is nonexistent, the tv didn’t work and tbt walls so thin you could hear the people in the best room!

I can’t believe I paid to stay there.

They should be done for false advertisement as it’s nothing like the images they have on their site and other third parties booking agents.

I checked in and was initially given floor 8 which is thee most putrid yellow, it’s literally made me want to vomit so I changed to the ‘subtle’ purple floor, still shocking but not as nauseous. The receptionist proudly said ‘the colour of the hotel is its concept’, I’d guess there was a sale on these ghastly colours choosen to keep the budget down because there’s no way any interior designer would go for this ‘concept’.

No really, I do not have one good thing to say about this hotel, not even the views of the Acropolis could save this hotel.

And don’t even get me started on the area. I’m a seasoned, street smart traveller and even I felt uneasy in the area, full of homeless, drug taking, aggressive street drinkers, I was followed by a failed pick-pocket but he moved away as I edged over to a restaurant for safety. There’s no great shops, restaurants or cafes in the area, it’s very run down and has a very uneasy vibe, not what you want when you’re away on holidays.

I seen a number of good reviews for the breakfast but this to was abysmal, depressing and just shouted ‘cheap’

All I can do is recommend you avoid, avoid, avoid booking this hotel, run…

Dear guest, There is no false advertising: all positive reviews come from guests who enjoy being in the heart of the city, next to the colorful fruit market, with local atmosphere. Our hotel is well known for its cleanliness, rich buffet breakfast, friendliness of our staff, panoramic view from roof bar and many others. Furthermore you checked in the room earlier than 3pm when normal check in time is and we offered you a second room with Acropolis view as you did not like the first room's color. You did not mention anything to reception about the room or the hotel and you seemed satisfied. We are sorry you were expecting something different than the exact and precise description you will find online. Best Regards

Dear Inspiration583410, Thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay in Athens. The hotel area is not dangerous, and we did not have any such experience. It may be dark after the market is closed, but not more dangerous than any other place in the center. In addition it is central located, only 300 meters from Monastiraki main square. Have a nice trip over. Best regards,

You can easily get a taxi at 38 euro just outside the airport (50 euro night shift). Should you prefer to have a transfer then it will be with extra cost and the hotel’s reservations department will arrange for you by email, 48 hours notice needed.
