I'm just about the most critical 20 year old you can get when it comes to living standards. But when it comes to the Areos Hotel , I had zero complains. For the amount you are paying you are getting services way beyond what you'd expect. Upon arrival, my boyfriend and I were upgraded to the deluxe sweet which was...

Very friendly front desk who helped with planning our first evening, showed us a good route through Monastiraki, printed out our boarding passes, and even let us check-out late at 1pm. The room was very sizable and clean and tidied up nicely every day, with a beautiful balcony with a view, though we did get upgraded for free from a...

Stayed at Areos for 3N4D... From the time we entered till we left, we were cared for brilliantly. The breakfast was a simple continental one. All the receptionists were guys and they were extremely friendly and explained everything you wanted to know... From the local buses, fares of taxis, where to eat local food - both cheap and with variety,...

Let me tell you this place is absolutely fantastic in every way! From the warm reassuring welcome at reception where nothing was too much to the beautiful room, we were simply delighted. It was a little out of the hustle & bustle of town (about a 20-minute walk) but at €80 per night including a wonderful breakfast, it proved quite...

We traveled as a group of three friends and so we got a double room with an extra bed. The interior was great, we loved the bathroom. Only the little window was strange. It didn't face outside, but it connected with the cleaning ladies supply room. We didn't now at first and left it oben to ventilate. My sister got...

Nice boutique hotel with good sized rooms, and awesome balconies. The breakfast each morning was very Greek and very yummy. It is a two block walk to the National Arcehological Museum, and a ten minute cab ride to most sites. The staff was very personal and knew our names each time we walked into the lobby. We also got great info on...

We stayed for three nights. We were a little worried about staying too far from the centre of town, but need not have worried. It was an easy 30 minute walk in to town. On the way in, or out, you passed some great bars and restaurants the locals frequented. The hotel staff were friendly, the breakfast was adequate. Nice...

I stayed here with friends and family for 4 days last month. Certainly NO complaints at all. This place was really good! Excellent Location, very near the metro and bus stops, good locality, great breakfast options (very YUM!) and excellent hospitality (special mention for the front desk guy - his name was Harry / Harris (am sorry,I don't exactly recollect...

Had a great stay here. Staff are friendly and helpful. Well located for a site seeing holiday in Athens just a short transfer from the airport. Rooms to a high standard and very well kept. Great views from the balcony (we were on 6th floor). Close to the National Archeological Museum and tourist bus stops. Good bar attached serving a...

Greeted at the door by a Manager with a friendly smile and welcome. He was very generous with his time and advice on a range of questions first time visitors always have on a first time visit to a city. The room was tastefully decorated with a large and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was in marble with a powerful...

Staying in Exarchia

Neighbourhood Profile
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
