Melia Koh Samui has earned commendations from guests for its attentive service, especially in The Level lounge, and its prime yet tranquil location near beaches and local attractions. The spacious and clean rooms are popular among visitors, although a few have mentioned noise concerns. The hotel's amenities, including the family-friendly pools and beachfront, receive high marks, as does the overall cleanliness. While the value is generally appreciated, especially for those opting for The Level upgrades, some guests find the food and drinks pricey. The atmosphere is deemed luxurious and welcoming, with suggestions for even quieter spaces.

This was our third time in Koh Samui and the best hotel that we have stayed at there.

The staff and service are what make this hotel special, they cannot do enough for you, the best we have experienced so far on our travels and we have been to some fabulous hotels.

The hotel itself is beautiful and in a lovely location, the beach is stunning on a calm day, but it's a very busy little beach.

We had a Level swim up room which was so nice and the lagoon style pool was amazing and lovely to walk around, but unfortunately we had lots of issues with people smoking weed on their balconies which ruined it a little for us, we couldn't sit on our terrace half the time because of the smell! The hotel needs a better policy for this.

The hotel could benefit from an Adults only area by the pool or swim up lagoon rooms because there are a lot of families here, even the swim up bar is next to the big kids club slide 🙈 it's not relaxing when kids are splashing in to the pool off the slide while you're having a cocktail, we didn't spend much time there, we would walk up for happy hour and take our deinks back but Ben and Back were brilliant and made the best sangria!

There is a small raised adults only area with a lovely view, but when it gets very hot you have to walk down to the pool for a dip, it would have been nice to get a bed by the pool, but it was always very busy with families and all beds were taken by 8am.

Baw was great and if he could see that nobody had been on a bed for a while, he would move the towels for us.

The best part of our day was at the Level lounge, the staff here were just the best that we have experienced in any hotel, every single one of them were so happy and welcoming, always smiling and greeting us by name every morning, how they remember everyone's names is unreal.

The breakfast was delicious every morning, we would always go back for snacks and tea at lunchtime and then cocktail hour to sample the beautiful cocktails and wine, this is all included in your Level package.

I would like to say thank you to the following very special people who made our stay and would be the main reason for us returning 😊
Dew, Tamarind (very heavily pregnant at the time and we wanted to help her, but she would never let us), Sky, Mammai, Queen and the legend Keng who my husband loved 🥰 thank you all for being so happy and kind at all times, you made us smile so much and really are a testament to this hotel, I'm sure that this is why many people return.

I did yoga most days and Mui the yoga teacher was brilliant, thank you for pushing me to my limits #nopainnogain is my new motto 😊

We had a fabulous holiday, but sadly we won't be returning to Thailand because of the legalisation of weed, it's just everywhere! But if you're not bothered by this then we would definitely recommend the Melia Koh Samui 😍

During our 10 days trip to Koh Samui we decided to stay in 2 different areas (Choeng mon beach and Chaweng beach) and We had an absolute heavenly stay at Melia Koh Samui at Choeng mon beach. This area is not as busy or loud as other areas and that's what we love about this beach/area..It has a lovely relaxing vibe, beautiful sandy beach with clear calm water, perfect for swimming. It is definitely great for families with young kids..

The hotel itself is so beautiful and peaceful.. Super friendly, loving and professional staff. We booked premium room with direct pool access for 5 days and it was spacious and lovely. bed was comfortable, crib was super comfortable for our baby, bathroom was spotless, large balcony and it was gorgeous (specially at night).. Breakfast buffet was delicious with variety of food, overall food at the restaurants and room service was yummy with good portion size..Resort property is huge, beautiful, clean and well maintained.. Pool is great, beach is the best..We haven't had any problem getting seats or umbrella at the pool or beach during our stay. Had the most relaxing spa experience at YHI spa.. Overall, we loved our stay and can't wait to go back already!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

We (37/44 years old) stayed in the wonderful Meliã Hotel on Koh Samui for 7 days in March.
We had a large, clean, modern premium room with a view of the garden and right next to the kids' dome. We thought that was a bit stupid at first, as we like to have peace and quiet on vacation, but the kids' area was only open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and during that time we were mostly on the beach or at the pool and we hardly noticed anything.
The beach is actually not very big, but there is still enough space and everyone can enjoy the beach.
The pool is huge and there are enough places to lie down in the
shade or in the sun.
The temperature of the water was just too warm for us, so we were mostly in the slightly cooler sea.
The pool was cleaned every day!
We mostly lay on the gallery during the day (adults' area) and there was always enough space here too and in the evening we moved to the beach to watch the sunset.
The service at the pool and beach was very attentive, but we found the prices a bit too expensive (e.g. €12 for an Aperol or a glass of Sauvignon Blanc)

Breakfast is served from 7am to 11am (great for us, as we like to have breakfast late). The selection is gigantic and there really is something for everyone here.

We each always had 2 beach towels, so there were no problems at all.

The towels just sometimes smell a bit musty, but that's because of the chlorine in the water.

The hotel describes itself as family-friendly and so there were lots of couples with babies and small children in the complex.

We usually prefer "adults only" hotels and were a bit skeptical at first and yes, there were lots of children and there was crying, but the hotel is so big that everything goes smoothly and you don't feel disturbed.

There are nice beach restaurants and bars nearby. These are usually only open until 10pm and after that all the guests seem to be in their beds.
There is no party atmosphere here and you aren't disturbed by blaring music.

We are currently living in this hotel. Complete disappointment. We specifically booked directly with melia, I am a member of Melia awards, for 10 days, I remind you, a 5* hotel.
Eventually:
1) no one meets you upon arrival and you yourself look in the lobby where the reception is located (and the reception is hidden behind the wall)
2) no one tells you about the hotel, how to connect Wi-Fi, what you can pay extra for HB or AI, etc., you have to ask all this yourself
3) you wait a very long time for your room (despite the fact that you have a small child) and you are given a room with the worst location (the farthest from the sea, overlooking the roof and restaurant)
3) they don’t change your bed linen when cleaning (I remind you, this is 5*), they forget to put towels in you and you repeatedly call on the phone and unsuccessfully ask them to bring them to your room (no one brings them, my husband personally went to the reception to take towels to the room and bringing them yourself is absurd). There are bathrobes with holes in the room.
4) most employees have difficulty understanding and speaking English, offering to write the text into Google Translator on their phone
5) the restaurant has inflated prices, mosquitoes, absolutely unqualified staff (that’s why there’s no one there, apparently). We were the only ones at dinner, however, they forgot to bring one of the dishes (I’m already silent about the serving, my husband was brought both an appetizer and a salad, they didn’t bring me anything, they forgot, but this didn’t bother anyone at all. Until we checked ourselves, but where is my dish, then it looks like they started cooking it).
Conclusion: apparently the management is not inclined towards regular customers. A one-time option is to arrive, get upset and never return. Now we are looking at other hotels to move to.

The huge hotel only has a very small beach area. As a result, guests who want to be by the sea lie next to each other in a row of three like sardines in a can.

The pool area is directly behind it. There is not much space here either, especially because guests reserve their loungers with towels before breakfast. If you don't do this, you only get one last spot or, after around 11 a.m. in high season, you may not get a lounger at all, at least not two next to each other in the shade.

There is a small, ridiculous "gallery" that is marked as adults-only with around 10 loungers. You feel like you're on display here and always have to walk down the stairs to the pool or the sea.

You are given one beach towel per person, which is provided in your room; you can't get an extra one at the pool either.

As an older couple, we were given a room directly opposite the "kidsdom" with a corresponding noise level. Our request to change rooms could not be granted at first because the hotel was fully booked.
When we arrived at the Level Lounge for breakfast shortly before 9 a.m. on the first morning, there were a few tables free, but none had been cleared. So we had to sit at a dirty table and wait over 15 minutes until the dishes of our predecessors were cleared away. However, this did not happen again in the following days.
The breakfast itself is very good.

Without exception, all of the hotel employees are very friendly and accommodating. The ladies in the Level Lounge, including Tamarind, Sky and Aung, deserve special mention.

The area around the hotel is OK. There are worse places in the tourist areas of Thailand. Both on the street and on the beach you will find well-rated Thai restaurants with moderate prices.

Overall, it must be said that although the hotel is beautifully laid out, it does not deserve 5 stars in many areas and is not the right choice for travelers without children looking for peace and quiet. The biggest drawback is the far too small section of beach.

Experience report room with pool access:
Our room was clearly showing its age (before Melia took over the hotel, it was under a different name), and in some places it was downright worn. The room was damp and musty.
The shower made a noise like a jet taking off. Very thin walls, every chair being moved in the neighboring room robs you of sleep.
The bedding, pillows, and towels all smelled bad, completely different to what you usually get in Thai hotels. The frayed doormat in the bathroom should have been thrown away long ago.
There is a Nespresso machine in the room and one capsule with and one without caffeine. You can order additional capsules for 60 THB each.
There were a lot of mosquitoes in this room.
After 2 days we were able to change rooms to one in a lower category, which was neither dark nor musty and we liked it much better. There were hardly any mosquitoes here either. Thanks to Max from reception for his help with the room change.

We recently stayed at the Melia for 2 weeks at the end of August 2024. The hotel is absolutely stunning, everything about it, the rooms, pools, restaurants are all beautiful. The grounds are kept immaculate by the team who were working daily and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. The location on the beach is great, with fab views from the level restaurant for a sunset picture! The level really is worth it, the swim up rooms are great alongside the level perks. We acctually asked to move rooms as we wanted the sun in the afternoon, and the hotel were really accommodating and switched our room for us when one became available. The hotel was really busy and a lot of families and children, but you only noticed it in the daytime around the main pool, besides that it was so quiet and peaceful at all other times. The hotels in a great location, and the shuttle service to the fisherman’s village and chaweng are really helpful, along with the in hotel tour services, we booked a handful of trips.
My partner booked the romantic Thai meal for 2 on the beach which sadly had to be moved inside due to high winds that evening, but the hotel again did everything to make it special with our own dining room, petals, flowers, twinkly lights and music. Green was fantastic and she really attentive throughout the entire dinner, making the evening really special. We later walked along the beach and my partner proposed, the Melia and Koh Samui will always be memorable and special to us!

This was my 3rd stay at Melia koh Samui & previously I holidayed at Cjaweng Noi beach for about 10 years. The choice to move to Melia on the first two stays was due to travelling with a friend & his family who had booked there. This time, I had the option to stay anywhere, but I just had to return to where it feels right.
Firstly, the resort is manicured and is modern with welcoming reception staff. The room was a great size with a big balcony overlooking the pool bar in the long pool that snakes around the main buildings. Great bed & bathroom.
Breakfast is ridiculously good with a wide variety & chefs on hand to do asian fresh stir-fry or eggs anyway. The fruits and oastries where great & barista coffee to boot.
Down at the huge main pool there is a ton of beds etc & the beach is clean & calm for families.
The best part of the whole resort are the staff. From Joy & others who cleaned my room were such friendly faces to see if you encountered them. Keng who is the nicest porter I have met & remembered me from the last trip.
Biggest shout out has to be for Baw, who looks after everyone on the beach or the big pool with such attention & genuine care. Like Keng, Baw remembered not only me, but my name after 6 months of guests in-between. He knew everybody's name & & i could see how much people enjoyed their interactions with him.
I appreciated everything he did & our chats & i will be back at the resort next time because of people like Baw.
Go de-stress in a beautiful resort with amazing staff

We stayed here for four nights, and we really love the beachfront location and the beautiful tropical garden setting!

Cheongmon beach has soft sand (what a break on my feet moving from the Bophut area!), the water is warm and calm, and it is mostly clean. There aren't a lot of lounge chairs in the beach area, but most people play in the pools anyways so it isn't a huge problem. Samui probably has one of the most Caribbean like beach settings in Asia. However, we found it more fun than the Caribbean resorts in the sense that you could buy food and drinks from many vendors as well as from the beachfront hotel and restaurants nearby, without leaving the beach. Right outside of Melia, you'll find more restaurants, mini markets, and massage places. Taxis are waiting across the street too, but we use grab while we were here.

We were out most of the day for fun, so we don't bother getting a big room, but even the smallest room is spacious. The deluxe room we stayed in is 51 square meters, including a beautiful furnished balcony. It made for a very comfortable stay.

Breakfast in the open-air restaurant overlooking the garden is a wonderful way of starting the day.

Just one negative point, other than the included breakfasts, food in the restaurants are overpriced. Fresh coconuts are about doubling the place next right door (to the right if you are facing the ocean).

The beach becomes lively at night with food drinks and live music, can't compare to seminyak or legian bali, but still fun.

At the time of writing, we are still staying at this establishment. The Inn is very nice, well maintained, a nice beach and the overall service is good. If this Pension had 4 stars my review would have been “excellent” and it is a 5 star. To start the greatness of our bathroom is not worthy of a 5*, (deluxe room), the floor of our room looked more like an alpine cottage, it cracked very strongly to the point that when you get up to get to the bathroom everyone is awake. The television in the room was defective because part of the screen was very dark. The breakfast buffet is average not worthy of a 5* The pool is imposing but the water was cloudy and did not want to set foot there. A few days after going up this point at the reception, the water became slightly clearer the following days. In short good Pension of medium category that puts full eyes with vegetation and water points to validate its rating.

Booked this hotel based on the positive reviews. Expectations were huge and still the experience exceeded them. From our arrival felt extra care(welcome drink of ice tea and scented towels to refresh) and lady from reception escorted us to our rooms and explained where we find everything and how to use airconditon and other details that helped us. Even when we had some issue(safe didn’t work) after calling the reception the technician came in 5 minutes and fixed the problem.
The rooms were spacious with big terrace and options to shower or bathe. Found everything we needed in the room(even wine bottle opener).
Daily cleaning and change of towels. Everyday got refilled enough bottles of water.
Breakfast was tasty with large selection where everyone could choose(from healthy choices, european to thai food), didn’t experience anything to run out even at full capacity.
Pools were amazing and loved the nature all around the hotel with flowers that smell better than any parfume.
Best part of the beach in front of the hotel(best sand without rocks).
Kids loved the kids club with lovely ladies from team Mamy. Everyday some different activities and also free cotton candy. Children enjoyed the time there so much that they talk about it even after 2 weeks and also got lovely update from Dada with growing plants that children planted seeds during activity with her.
They really go out of the way to please customer here- Boom(hope got the name right) showed extra effort in finding a lost toy shovel and after initial failure in finding it he came to us after 3 hours with the toy shovel with sincere smile- was amazed he took the extra effort and also remembered us among so many people in the hotel.
Highly recommended, best hotel I stayed in.
Only setback are the stairs above pools and to the rooms for elderly and little children.

Can’t remember exactly what the prices were like at the Breeza Beach Bar but we thought they were quite reasonable. Heaps of restaurants up and down the beach and outside the resort. Mira Serene a couple of doors down on the beach was awesome. Food was amazing.

We stayed in the boathouse last year and didn’t see any snakes or spiders…. I have seen snakes (very small and harmless ones) at the pool access hotel rooms in past visits…
