My husband and I stayed at La Cala in September, taking advantage of a promotion they were offering. The hotel and the pool area are beautiful and are set in the middle of a golf course with stunning views. The spa hydrotherapy circuit was really good. Unfortunately the restaurants in the hotel are closed at the moment but the golf course clubhouse is a two minute walk and all the meals we had were very good. The staff were all very friendly. One complaint, we had been asked our arrival time when I phoned but a room was not ready when we arrived. We were early so could understand if we had to wait but the hotel was pretty empty so we were surprised a room wasn’t available. When we did get our room, 1.5 hours later, the bathroom in our room could have used a few minutes more from housekeeping, particularly the sink drain which still had hairs in it. Saying that we would stay here again.

Excellent resort, 3 lovely golf courses and practice facilities, we even played the 6 hole par 3's which we found very enjoyable. Rooms were comfortable and cleaned daily. Mini bar in room with water, spirits, beer and chocolate but beware as very expensive if used. Food was excellent and staff very friendly. The views from our room were outstanding, we had beautiful sunshine 6 out of the 7 days. We found the Spa was a delightful place to relax and unwind at, which we used it 3 times during our stay free of charge. Visited La Cala Town using UBER a couple of times, approx €10 each way, and enjoyed a lovely Indian meal at Sai Indian. Lots of bars and restaurants at La Cala de mijas so we'll the worth a visit. We shall definitely be returning to la cala golf resort.

I received a voucher to use at La Cala Resort Spa as a birthday present and booked a session of Reflexology there. To start with the place itself is beautiful. It sits on the hill and boasts stunning views over the gold course and hills. The Spa is indeed quite luxury and you feel pampered as soon as you come in. I received a dressing gown and flip flops to change into and was shown to the changing/lock rooms. Then I proceeded to the treatment room (they have many) and it had everything you would expect: dimmed lights, relaxing music but the best part was the treatment itself. My reflexology was given my Flor and she was fabulous: lovely hands, attentive and courteous. You get a full leg and foot massage with this treatment, which surprised me, and it was really really nice, it also turned out to be longer than I expected. I fully recommend this place. It is pricey but worth it.

I have celebrated New Year’s Eve in this area for many years with my family and always enjoyed my evening. However after attending the New Year’s Eve gala I can honestly say that it was the worst New Years event I have ever attended. It was advertised as an upmarket gala but unfortunately it fell far short of this. The dinner was in an upstairs room with a dirty carpet and as you entered the room it smelt musty. We were sat by the door, which was chilly. The food was cold and once they had served us our main course we left. The beef was not as advertised , it was white when you cut into it and inedible It was meant to be a special evening to welcome in 2020, but we couldn’t even stay for that, we left hungry to try to salvage our evening. My suggestion to the hotel is stick to the golf and leave the dining experiences to people that actually deliver what they promise. I would definitely not recommend this venue. Jayne

Was very disappointed with the evening, was sold a evening that it defiantly wasn’t and the food tenderloin beef smelt and tasted like school Dinners. The staff where very good however trying to be as accommodating as possible but just felt whole evening was a let down to what was sold and advertised from the food to presentation and what they actually provided. Had also paid from December but had missed our party from the table seating which is not impressive for money paid meaning we was by the door which was constantly left open as much as we closed it meaning we sat there freezing all evening with our coats on. Maria who sold us this wonderful new year package was very misleading and rude on even trying to discuss any of our concerns with her which is very unprofessional and added to the whole dreadful experience I certainly will not be going back or recommend.

Myself and my wife visited the La Cala resort for a break and to relax, we had the spa booked for a hour and a massage after that. This was very nice and relaxing.
We had a nice meal in La bodiga with the service being excellent, we then returned to our upgraded room which in my opinion was very basic but still so far relaxing.
At 07:50 on a Sunday morning we were awoken by the cleaning staff dragging beds and sofas around in both rooms either side of us, this carried on for 15 minutes before I engaged with them to resolve this noise to which it continued.
We complained to reception however as it was a weekend there was no Manager present, we have left our details and await contact with a Manager.
In my opinion as the earliest checking is 15:00 there is no reason to be making so much noise at this time
I would not at this point be recommending this hotel to anyone

The hotel website suggested luxury accomodation in a wonderful setting. The reality is that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful views but not a nice location.
No signage to tell you where the hotel reception is, but once you do locate it (left at the t junction for us), there are not enough parking spaces for hotel guests, golfers take up hotel parking. The reception staff didn't care when I pointed this out and simply told me to go park at the golf club. Not a nice welcome to the hotel!
The rooms are dated and not the luxury that the website describes. Bathroom colours make it feel grubby. Black mould around the bath sealant confirm it's grubby. The bath is plastic and extremely slippy, but grab handles are provided, you just need to use them. The bath buckles when you are under the shower.
Our room had three interconnecting doors, so you do hear noise from next door. Balconies are not private.
There is a small television facing the bed, you cannot watch from the sofa. There is a kettle with nowhere to plug it in, except on the floor.
Breakfast is chaotic! Staff are unorganised and none of them seem happy. The coffee from the machine is awful!
The egg chef walked past me many times, replenishing other hot food. When I ask for eggs I got told to press a button! After a few minutes, the same chef then attended to me.
There was no strawberry jam, which is a basic, and simply put, poor management.
The spa area is brilliant. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, well done Pablo and the team for understanding what good looks like. It's a shame that a lot of the thermal circuit users use the time to have a social gathering and ignore the request to provide a peaceful and relaxing area.
Apart from the spa, this hotel is 3 star. It is there to provide golfers a close location to stay on the golf course and unfortunately it did not have the luxury feel we were expecting.
Personally, I would choose an alternate location and better hotel. We will not be staying here again.

With regards to our idyllic location, many of our guests enjoy the remoteness of our location and its proximity to the coast (10 minutes away). Hotel parking on the dates that you visited was quite busy due to our high hotel occupancy, and we apologize for any inconvenience with regards to parking at our alernate parking area. I assisted a group of golfers who were at the resort for a corporate event and the staff were incredible. Nothing was too much trouble...nothing!
At the time of the event the weather could not make its mind up so the staff moved the drinks reception from outside to inside and then back outside again so the guests were comfortable. All requests that were made by myself and the guests were actioned straight away.
The food in the hotel was delicious with myself and the guests enjoying each and every meal. They didnt even feel the need to go offsite to eat, it was that good!
We sent everyone to the spa and all that went thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Some even kept asking to go back and have another appointment. I will most certianly be popping in when I go back.

Had a fantastic stay at La Cala, first time visitor invited with a group of guys which some had been before, will definitely be back in the future!
Golf courses are great, Asia course was in the process of sorting their greens but that was the only downside of the 3 courses. That feeling of playing golf in the sunshine with a cold beer is second to none.
The staff at the hotel and the clubhouse are amazing and especially at the pool bar where we spent most our free time, the staff will help you with anything you need (including leaving my phone in a taxi 1 night and getting it back for me)
The Food and Drink at the hotel was excellent, we had breakfast included and plenty to choose from each morning, we also had food at the clubhouse after golf and it was great (special mention for the nachos). Drink wise the freezing cold cans of cruzcampo at the pool bar and freezing cold pints of cruzcampo at the clubhouse after a round of golf was glorious. I'm not a cocktail person but there was loads to choose from and they looked great.
The Hotel itself is stunning, the rooms are spacious with air con, safe, mini fridge etc, lovely balcony with beautiful views of the golf courses, in fact everywhere in the hotel has great views of the golf courses so it's nice to walk around and take them in. It's also situated not far from la cala de mijas, a quick taxi in will cost you 15€. What the hotel could do with is a shop near by for essentials like bottles of water/ snacks as the mini bar is a little more pricey so try and remember to bring stuff back from the town.
Would highly recommend to anybody looking for a golf holiday.

Spectacular views from the hotel and our room. Lovely hotel building with beautiful garden areas and terraces. Our room is spacious but the furniture could do with being replaced as it is rather tired. We have enjoyed the golf though the staff in the shop are rather brusque and it was a pity we were not able to keep hold of our hired clubs in order to practice with them at the range. The courses are tricky but the views are great!
We have been very impressed with the food in the Bodega and the Terrace restaurant though the latter lacked any atmosphere as we were one of only 2 couples dining despite being advised to book a table! The food however has been very good which was a great bonus as other restaurants would have involved driving or having to take a taxi. However we were very disappointed with the service after our meal in the Bodega last night. The waitress seemed very efficient until it came to us settling the bill. We waited for ages and eventually had to find her in order to pay. Her reaction was to argue with us rather than apologise. It was a pity as the 2 previous times we had eaten in the Bodega, the service was very good though we were looked after by a much more professional member of staff.
I do hope we can complete our stay on a more positive note!
