I have to go to Brussels on business every month or so. I typically stay in one of those "anonymous hotels" : convenient, clean ... and boring. Pretty much identical wherever you go in the world. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try something different and didn't regret it whatsoever. I was first intrigued by the mixed reviews...

This is a late review but I visited this place October 2012 and stayed for three days. It was not possible to lock my room and even worth, the door would open if there was a draught. It is pretty embarrassing to have no privacy at all in a B&B. But the worth experience was the lack of hot water...

I have been to Brussels for years and years - a few times this year already - . This time I decided to stay somewhere different rather than the usual hotel. I didn't know what to expect, but it was really different. More like staying with a family - indeed you have breakfast with the multi-lingual and charming family and...

I really enjoyed three nights spent in Brussels. An unexpected, wonderful city and, above all, a charming, fascinating old building. Art, design, culture, warmth, friendliness, all mixed. Having breakfast in that amazing garden was really great. Nice building, beautiful rooms, everything positive even if the position was not very close to the city centre. The last thing I want to...

I checked in together with a friend of mine - the room at first looked a bit messy but it turned out to be quite fancy! I admit: being there with a friend whom you don't know that well could be a bit strange - in our room there where no door for the toilet and the shower had transparent...

Karin, Paulina Nefer the dog are such fantastic kind hosts! Sadly our flight to Brussels was cancelled so we could only stayed for 1 night, but in those few short hours my husband and I expereinced wonderful service. Help getting to the Brusells Midi station for our day trip to Bruges. Paulina even happily ordered our taxi to take us...

Wow - we can't say enough about Phileas Fogg in Brussels, Belgium! Karin and her family are warm hosts, and do their best to make you feel at home. Breakfast is delectable and different every morning. We wanted to sit and chat away the day with Karin - she's such an intelligent, dynamic, worldly woman who really knows Brussels as...

If you come to Brussels the Phileas Fogg is a wonderful place to stay! We got such a warmhearted welcome and directly felt at home. The old Belgium townhouse has a special flair and design and there is so much of art you can discover all over the house. The different rooms are very nice decorated and most of them are...

I have had the pleasure to stay at The Phileas Fogg this Aug 2013 and I found that not only it is a beautiful house that is well furnished in a great location for an affordable price; but it is mainly a melting pot. All guests are having breakfast together with the owner Karin and her most interesting daughter sharing...

It felt so wonderful staying here. Our host Karin was very obliging and breakfast on the patio was lovely. Our room with kitchenette was perfect for our needs and we were walking distance to the Grand Place and Botanical Gardens. Would definitely recommend this place to other travellers. “A good room would be in entirely different establishment. Try a real hotel. If this is least expensive option, pay a little more so your trip to Brussels won't be ruined like ours was.”

“Some rooms are small while others are larger, and not all rooms have a in-suite bathroom so if that's important to you be sure to ask Karin about alternate rooms if you don't want to use the common washroom, when the house gets full that means sharing it with a few others and not everyone is cool with that. Lastly, an important tip on booking-- I strongly suggest that you go to her website and contact her directly to book a room. It typically takes about 24 hours before she even receives notice of a room booking from any online booking service and with only a few rooms to the house it can fill up suddenly. If you book the night before you arrive she can sometimes not even know until after you arrive!- she makes every effort to be there for an arrival but the online booking agents don't have important information such as the security code to get inside the house if she isn't there or even where your room is located in the house. I would never use an online booking agent for a B&B- for a Hotel that clearly has 24 hour staff and loads of rooms - sure, not a lot of risk there but contact her direct to book a room and make it easy.”
