We stayed here for a wedding we had to attend in the town. We were really shocked by the lack of upkeep. Stains all over the walls and carpets, big problems with dampness throughout the hotel ( leading to heavy smells), no airconditioning in rooms so you have to open your window ( but there is no fly net, so its mosquito galor cause of the adjacent river) , no iron in room, matresses all old with big dips into the middle, poor quality sheets, spa is not inviting ( especially the jacuzzi) and finally the staff must be used to getting complaints because they just have a useless answer for everything. I told more than 5 other couples for the same wedding that we were staying here.....I felt like a complete idiot and none of them were impressed.
A really good place to visit Porto when you don’t want to stay in the city. The hotel is not totally modern but it’s okey. It’s close to the beach but also the metro to go everywhere you want. Don’t forget your schwimming cap for the schwimmingpool
The hotel is nice, there's always relaxing music in the corredors. It's really good. We, as a family, appreciate it. The only bad thing is that the check in starts only at 3 p.m.. Besides that the staff is really nice and funny and breakfast is good.
Nice views onto the river but it ends there. Carpets shabby, Venetian blinds on corridor need replacing or get rid. Not looked after as these are facing both ways and are awry. Nice deck outside bar but not looked after. Stands for sun umbrellas but no umbrellas. At night not even a light, total darkness. Paying resident guests shunted out of breakfast room to make way for Mothers’ Day day trippers. We were put into a room less than half the size. Chaos ensued with people queuing up for tables, not cleared, and jostling with guests trying to get at the hot food. Why were paying residents put at disadvantage to the day trippers? I asked at reception for the duty manager to attend to sort matters out and was told “he’ll be in in an hour! Definitely not four star. Will not stay again.…
I had a fantastic view of the river from the balcony of my room and tere were also great views from the restuarant veranda. I found those on the reception desk particularly helpful. The bar during 'open hours' was regularly without staff - it is not clear whether this was due to illness - however the bar tends to be only occassionally patronised by guests. There is also a spa in the hotel and I received a very good and highly effective massage - my one suggestion to improve the massage experience would be for face cradle padding to be placed over the face hole of the massage table. THe actual maassage itself was very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
