Imagine a world made of chocolate, where kids and grown-ups explore the amazing universe of the "food of the Gods". A century old building, where chocolate was once produced and from where a sweet aroma used to emerge all over the city, is today a newly restored building that keeps its history and memories alive, but with a new purpose. Today, the production is of unique experiences totally dedicated to chocolate. In this small charming hotel where each room tells a unique story, you'll be able to sleep surrounded by your favourite chocolate brands, in the setting of a cacao tree forest, or in the magic scenario of children's classics such as "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" or "Hansel and Gretel". Each day of your stay will bring a totally unique experience. Indulge yourself with a rejuvenating chocotherapy treatment, enjoy the exclusivity of a private chocolate fountain for two, or taste different types of chocolate after an inspiring visit to the Museum.

I spent a splendid few days at this fabulous and unique hotel in Viana do Castelo with my sister. Based in an old chocolate factory this hotel is designed all around the concept of chocolate. The rooms are themed; we stayed in Roca, which is a name used for the areas where the cacao is grown and harvested. It came with a small balcony with chairs and table which was nice. The staff where all really helpful and kind, and worked around our needs specifically at breakfast with my sister having a couple of allergy requirements and myself needing different times due to onward travel and taking part in the Etape Portugal cycle race. The hotel was spotlessly clean and very relaxing, it was nice to sit outside on a few of the evenings and enjoy a tea and cold chocolate drink! Breakfast was served at the tables and was very good with a number of pastries, cake, pancakes, meat, cheese, fruit and a choice of drinks, cereals and much more. We also loved looking around the museum below; all about the history of chocolate with lots of great info and facts and few hands-on elements, like making a drink of the chocolate drink Montezuma used to have 50 of a day, wow! The shop adjacent to the reception has a number of chocolate gifts made on site as well as hand-picked external gifts that are suitable for any chocolate lover! The location was ideal for me taking part in the Etape Portugal as it was only a few minutes walk to the start of the race. It was also very close to the station and all the key restaurants, shops and cultural buildings in the city. Viana do Castelo itself is a wonderful place and the Monte Santa Luzia offers amazing views across the region and out along the coast. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I'd love to return in the future and explore the area more! Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

A perfect family hotel to enjoy Viana do Castelo.
Quite a sensory experience.
Beautiful room decorated to the smallest detail, set and scented with chocolate smell. Split into two rooms, perfect for families. Welcome detail and bath amenities included. Very nice staff.
The exquisite breakfast served with pleasure, delicious and very abundant and varied.
Curious visit to the chocolate factory included, very didactic for children.
Highly recommended.

Hotel staff and room service of 10, friendly, attentive, smiling a wonder. High quality buffet. The hotel in Spain would not be 4 stars, the rooms are not very large the external noise you hear everything inside them, in front of the hotel facade there is a road of cobblestones and it is horrible the noise you hear, you also hear the train when it passes as if it were inside the room, as if it were poorly isolated from the outside so you can not stick an eye, besides hearing at night the engines of the AC.

Very comfortable room with good and attentive professionals both at reception and in the breakfast room.
A great detail to have in the room with a coffee maker and infusions and a welcome chocolate
Very complete breakfast at the table with the option of ordering by letter what they don't give you.
The check-in time is a little late and the check-out time is early.

We spent a magnificent night in this cozy hotel, where everything is decorated with chocolate. The hotel staff has been very attentive, for them without a doubt the best note. We had the cinema room and it was spectacular, we also got to see the Dalí room, more of the same. All the fantastic details and every detail taken care of to the maximum. Breakfast was very rich and homemade. We also forgot something in the room and they were kind enough to let us know. For them 10 out of 10. Thank you for your attention.

This is a fantastic boutique hotel with spacious rooms, dedicated staff and all kinds of pleasant surprises (complimentary chocolate bars and drinks, museum tour). The breakfast is absolutely sublime - the best I've ever had...anywhere), and the location is excellent. A lovely hotel in a lovely city. Strongly recommend.

It is not often that I write reviews, but this hotel absolutely deserves one. What a lovely hotel with a fantastic service. Beautiful rooms with eyes for detail. I am not a chocolate lover, but love the whole atmosphere of the hotel. Services in the hotel is extraordinary! Compliments.

A different experience, with rooms alluding to the theme. Very friendly staff. The breakfast is delicious. The visit to the museum is quite interesting, with many challenges for the children. The escape room is pretty funny. An experience in the world of chocolate.

Hello, The Hotel is right in the City Center, near the riverside and close to the old Eiffel's iron bridge. A 5 minute walk will be enough for you to reach the most central square called Praça da República. Hope this helps! Thank you. Fábrica do Chocolate
