The perfect place to stay in Vina de Castelo. Its subtle elegance, meticulous management and museum like quality provides an ideal spot for exploring the city. Everything was outstanding. The concierge not only took us on an excellent guided tour of the mansion but also provided excellent suggestions for dining and A enjoying the city. The breakfast was beautifully presented and the coffee, port and chocolate in the sitting room was an added treat. We would definitely return and highly recommend it to other travelers.

Gorgeous 19th century house with luxurious rooms and comfortable bed. Relaxing overnight stay here with a wonderful breakfast. Tiago was a welcoming friendly host who told us about the history of the house and made our visit feel special.

This guest house is located in an elegant historical manor in the old centre of Viana do Castello very close to all museums and many restaurants.
The six rooms are individually decorated with antique furniture and have amazing stucco ceilings. Our room was called “Roses” and had a separate seating area and nice views of Santa Lucia.
Breakfast is served in style in the winter garden or the main antique dining room of the manor. For breakfast we were served home-made cakes, pastries, different breads every day, fresh fruit (red fruit, mango kiwi, cherries), yoghurt, cereal, ham, cheeses and local jam.
The guest house is run by the owner who lives also in the building. She is extremely friendly. The fact that she does not speak English very well was not a problem, as we could communicate very well with the English-speaking staff. Upon arrival, we received valuable information about the town and had a guided tour of the manor and its history.
As the guest house is located in the pedestrian area, we were given a free ticket for a covered public car park for the duration of our stay. The car park is five minutes’ walk from the guest house, but hotel staff is helping with the luggage. Guests with mobility problems should also be aware that the guest house has no lift.
We stayed in room “Roses” for 4 nights.

From the first step into the foyer of the Casa Manuel Espregueira e Oliveira, I knew I was in for a special treat. The beautiful restored mansion was elegant, beautiful, and aesthetically pleasing, full of antiques, culture, and stories, all of which were personalized by its warm, caring, and lovely proprietors. It was homey, comfortable, and extraordinary in every aspect of the word. Besides enjoying the premises and the surrounding cultural life of the community, I loved waking up each morning to a delicious breakfast on the veranda overlooking a classical garden. Romantic and inspiring. Can't wait to come back!

A beautifully restored mini-palace with 6 rooms owned and managed in a quiet way where the absolutely over-riding concern of the small team is that you have the happiest possible, relaxing stay. Nothing is too much trouble for them. At the rear of the hotel is a surprisingly large peaceful garden which the breakfast terrace overlooks. We have since moved on to Porto - and to what is (laughingly) supposed to be one of the leading hotels in the world: had we not pre-paid (a vast amount) we would have simply gone back to the Casa - which is in a league far ahead of where we are now. We have already recommended a visit to the Casa to friends - so in that spirit, feel entirely happy to pass on the wider recommendation.

Just charming. A great welcome from the get go when we were met and taken to car park....then a very informative explanation of the history of the house and town by Tiago. The house is just gorgeous, staying in it is like living in a piece of history. We had a superb room, with a small sitting terrace attached. Whilst the house is beautifully restored, the bathroom has a great shower etc so it’s all really comfortable. Super location, super staff, really was a great surprise and fabulous end to our whirlwind tour of the area. The town itself very pretty, and the hospital ship well worth a visit. Thanks to all the team!

A premise: I frequently travel around the world for work reasons. One of the secretaries of the company usually manages the accommodation for me and my colleagues. As you may imagine, the choice is towards average hotels, sometimes even below the average! It seldom happens that I stay in very good hotels (4 or 5 stars, I mean).
So, it came as a very pleasant surprise that this "Casa" was chosen.
It is a small wonder from the very first instant you step in. Mr Tiago, the person-in-charge of the "Casa" is one of the most polite, well-mannered, friendly person I have ever met. Missis Alda, the owner, is very kind, too.
The whole building has been completely restored: it is worth a visit. Mr Tiago can provide you so many pieces of information so that everything has its own special story.
The breakfast borders with what I consider "perfection".
The "Casa" does not have a restaurant but there are many good ones very close so having lunch or dinner is not a issue.
Out of curiosity, the "Casa" does have a kitchen that can be used by the guests. There are other common spaces where the guests can stay.

I warmly recommend this "Casa" but, please, read the following caveats.
1) The building is in a pedestrian area. If you arrive by car, it is better to contact Mr Tiago in advance, so he will come to pick you to the most suitable meeting point and arrange everything (baggage, parking, and so on).
2) There is no lift in the building as there was no intention to make radical changes. If going upstairs and downstairs is a problem, then this accommodation is not a good choice.

We and our friends booked this hotel to attend the annual medieval fair. Tastefully decorated and renovated this building has a history which the managers are willing to tell you as they show you around the place. Well situated not far from the city centre (although not easy to find by car) the hotel is charming. Impeccably clean with very comfortable rooms and beds. Wonderful breakfast. But the best feature is the management and staff: frienly competent service they make you feel at home. The hotel has only 8 or 9rooms, so booking ahead is advisable.

What a beautiful building, in a beautiful location. We were warmly welcomed and shown around the hotel. The owner allowed us to park our motorbike in the lovely back garden. The room was clean and perfectly appointed. Very comfortable bed. The breakfast was thoughtfully presented for us and was delicious. A great stay!
