Detailed Reviews
We really enjoyed our stay. We’ve previously stayed at Vincci hotel group in Spain and this is one of the reasons we chose this hotel, together with a very competitive rate. We were not disappointed in our choice.
The hotel staff are very service minded and this is seen right across all members. The hotel’s style, although big (previously a fish market) is very nicely designed throughout the hotel with a cosy and warm feeling in all public areas. We also enjoyed drinks and bites at the Sky bar overlooking the river. Prices very reasonable in the bar.
The room, although basic, was spotlessly clean, and with a good bed and great bathroom met all requirements.
One small detail which we mentioned to the desk attendant when checking out, The room were we stayed required new gutting on shower glass wall and between tiles as these were either rusty or dirty due to incorrect cleaning being carried out in this space.

+1
We booked this wonderful Hotel and were not disappointed in any way. It was our anniversary the first day of our arrival and the hotel left us a fruit platter, 2 Natas and a bottle of sparkling wine. A lovely gesture.
Our room was a superior room and had everything you could need with a huge comfortable bed and a wow bathroom. The hotel has wonderful river views from the bar, reception and restaurant.
The breakfast selection was amazing, one of the best we have had. Everything g was do fresh with an amazing choice. The staff were lovely, multi-lingual, friendly and very helpful. The two bar meals we ate were excellent and better than the meal we had in the restaurant. I thoroughly recommend the bar for drinks and light meals especially the cheese platter and the croquettes with mushroom.
Downstairs from the restaurant there are toilets and the corridors have pictures of the Hotel in its previous life as a fish market. Worth a look. The vintage Tram stops right outside the Hotel. It’s €3 pp to go in either direction and worth doing once, the regular bus is €1. We used Uber to get to various restaurants of an evening. It’s a pleasant 20 minute walk along the river to get to the historic district and you pass some old historic housing (Miragaia) and the entrances to the steep steps up past the old city walls on the way.

Hotel in its set of excellent quality. Fantastic staff. Too bad the Bar is badly located, totally hidden and without interest. It would be preferable to place the Bar in another location near the reception and use the space above for other purposes.
Pleasant rooftop. The Hotel entrance could be much more interesting as the hotel has an incredible ceiling height. Misused.
Negative point of the Hotel. The design. Bad Art Work. The hotel could behind the design tell the story of this building. I think what people are looking for today is a story to tell when they come home. And in this case the design does not allow to tell any story. It is a pity. But again very good hotel and I will coming back for sure.

It started off very well, the front desk person was very helpful, A great lobby in a beautiful building. THEN. No sleep! The plumbing was banging all night, It was so noisy. Like sleeping under a waterfall one side of the room and the timpani section on the other.
Given that the hotel was empty due to the covid 19 pandemic (i was told 6 people)
I was given a room , (which was clean and comfortable) facing a side street, the street had booming music scene , cars stopping at the traffic lights with sound turned full. To cap it all, the road works outside my room woke me up at 7 am, continued all day, pneumatic drills. Grrr. Why would you put guests on the road work side? with so many empty rooms. Madness, thoughtless poor management.
I left for work, ask to speak to the manager, front desk insisted on dealing with it, I passed onto her my grievances, they proceeded to argue, answer back, pouring petrol on what was becoming a fire. Really really poor staff training, terrible customer service. Such a shame but with so many great hotels in Porto why would you stay here?

We had a great experience with this hotel, located at ~20 min walk from the center where all the restaurants are. Clean rooms, quiet enough to have a good sleep. Very big bathrooms.
They also offer private parking, but is quite expensive (12euro/day) considering that public parking is much cheaper (~5euro per day).
Overall the price of the room was correct for what they offer and we had a nice stay.

This elegant and architechturally marvellous hotel is well worth consiering if you plan to visit the beautiful city of Porto and do not want to be located right in the middle of the tourist area in town.
Staff here are unfailignly helpful and friendly and the location on the river Douro means easy access to walking, running, cycling or just catching a tram or bus in to the centre of town or out toward the coast.
You will pass a selection of good and competively priced resturants and bars on the walk toward town but the restaurant in the hotel ("33 Alameda") serves superbly prepared dishes in the evening and is definitely worth a try.

First of all, the venue is simply beautiful. The decor, modern but without losing sight of the past. Loved the metal, the reception area, the classic decor of both the rooms and the restaurant.
The location is perfect, from there we went everywhere on foot or just called a Uber when we were tired. :)
The restrooms in the basement were amazingly clean with the same decor and class as the rest of the hotel.
The room. Well, we had a Standard room on the 4th floor and by the photos, it seemed like a decent room.
No, it was not a decent room, it was an amazing room with what looked like 2 double beds together, the bathroom was extra-large, the shower room was fantastic, and with wonderful amenities. Loved the verbena shower gel.
All reception staff was super attentive, but I would like to emphasize the friendliness and availability of the gentleman who was managing the Breakfast (I'm sorry I didn't get the name), which was impeccable with a situation with my daughter, as well as the employees who were present at the breakfast room.
Attentive, kind, always available. And always with a smile.
The lady responsible for cleaning our room (4th floor), just wanted to thank her for her amazing job as our room was always in perfect condition, with perfect cleanliness and hygiene and also very friendly and kind.
Excellent professionals, everyone.
We are already making plans to return as soon as possible.

Generally everything was ok, the staff were very helpful! The negative thing is, the hotel blocked money on our account right after the booking, although we had selected a room with a free cancellation. Now, even if they cancelled the initial blockage, according to the bank it will take a month to get it sorted and I needed to pay the full price anyway. The reception was trying to help with this, but still I need to pay almost double before it gets clarified. Either I should pay just the difference in price, if the hotel wishes to verify the card or as in other properties, pay onsite the full price.

Response from Deputy General Manager, Other at Vincci Porto
Responded 18 Dec 2020
Dear Barbara, Thank you for choosing Vincci Porto for your stay in Porto and for the time spend on your comment. We are very pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay. Regarding the payment, as an internal procedure for security measures, we pre-authorize the credit card, and immediatly after cancel the transaction. In any moment we charge the card without the guest knowledge. Unfortunately the timing that the money takes to be available on guests account it depends on the client's bank and not ours. We are sorry for the inconvenience but it was with our best effort that we manage the situation always looking further for your safety. Once more at your disposal for any information. Kind Regards

We have stayed several times at other Vincci hotels and booked this one with a misplaced confidence and should really have checked it matched our experience of those we'd visited. The hotel is not in a very nice location, having abandoned and derelict buildings on the same street and a fair amount of rubbish - cigarette ends, glass, on the pavements. The location, together with the first impression given by the awful exterior colour followed by stained carpets in the admittedly grand entrance hall does not bode well for the rest of the hotel.
The corridors and bedrooms are gloomy and poorly lit. I understand that the corridors and doors to the bedrooms are a reference to the building's past life, but great black doors giving into a room with a main wall decorated in a very dark blue does not exactly lift the spirits. The view from our room on the side of the hotel was onto a building across the street but I believe other rooms had worse views.
The breakfast was adequate, though we had to ask for some items (breakfast cereal) to be replenished, despite several staff being present.
The hotel was about half an hour's walk from the centre which doesn't bother us as we do like to wander. However, this was not an enjoyable walk due to neglected state of the paving, the derelict properties and general uncared-for look of the route and, in fact, Porto in general.
If you do wish to visit Porto, and there were some highlights such as the cathedral and stock exchange, I would not recommend this hotel.

Response from Hotel- cmanager, Owner at Vincci Porto
Responded 7 June 2024
Dear Elaine, We are grateful for the time you took to review your recent stay. We pride ourselves on our unique location and are saddened to hear that the surroundings did not meet your expectations. Our setting in a renovated historical building lends a special character to our establishment, which we find many guests appreciate. While we regret that the decor did not resonate well with you, we hope that the distinctive design, inspired by the building's heritage, can be appreciated as an homage to its storied past. We understand that aesthetic preferences vary greatly, and we strive to maintain a balance between the building's history and modern comfort. Furthermore, we are sorry to hear that your view from the room was not as expected. Our team is always available to assist with any in-house comfort needs or to discuss room selection for future visits. Regarding breakfast, we aim to provide a varied selection catering to all tastes and dietary requirements, and we apologize for any inconvenience you faced, especially if items were not replenished quickly enough. We are continuously working to improve our service standards to ensure a seamless experience for our guests. We are nevertheless glad to note that you found some highlights in Porto, such as the cathedral and the stock exchange. Porto is indeed a city rich in culture and history, and we feel privileged to be part of this vibrant community. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a more enjoyable stay. Warm regards, General Manager Hotel Vincci Porto 4*

We loved the place. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was great and we loved our room. The hotel was once a fish market (of which you notice nothing) that has been carefully restored into a stylish, modern art deco style hotel. Some original details have been kept, such as the windows and the balconies in the lobby. It’s a beautiful building, right by the river Douro, and with public transport available close by.
A couple of weeks before our arrival they emailed my husband to ask if we would like to participate in the New Years celebration at the hotel. They offered a well composed menu with drinks for a really good price. The staff was so service minded and efficient.

A double will fit two but it will be cozy. A twin would not fit two. Period.
I believe 10am as well. It is delicious!
