Not in the City, yet just a short busride or a nostalgic tram ride from downtown and even closer to the great fish restaurants in Matesinhos. Unbeatable location and one of the rare Porto hotels actually on the sea. Add to this nice, comfortable rooms, a pool on the roof, and a stunning view - and you will be happy.
We were absolutely gutted when we saw our room.So so disappointing. So overpriced and staff unhelpful and one receptionist incredibly rude. We booked a twin room at the front of the property which we paid a supplement for. However we got a room looking directly at a brick wall and the rooms opposite. However the management insisted that it was a room at the front and insulted our intelligence be not taking our complaint seriously. . Do not believe the photos on the website. We had to keep the net curtains closed to give a little privacy. The view from the terrace is good but this property is very outdated. Horrible dark, dingy room. Had to have the lamps on in the middle of the day. Bathrooms have mouldy grouting and the pool has a thick scum layer around the walls. We didn't venture in. Supposed to have tea and coffee making facilities but we got one teabag and one sachet of coffee and no milk per day. Too bad if you both want tea!!…
No ironing board - referred to local laundry service not open on weekend. No coffee in room (one sachet of instant brought up reluctantly), room very dated, sound travels easily (can hear all noises from next door), very dated decor with colored duvets (do they still make these for hotels?), uncomfortably hard bed, dated air conditioning. Hangers still on rings. Very poor lighting in room. Remote control wired to the wall. Hairdryer wired to the wall. Wow. Front desk staff seem reluctant to help, or answer phone, or provide solutions or offer suggestions. Breakfast room attendant was wonderful. Do not recommend for business travellers.
I stayed for three nights while attending a conference in Porto. I had a number of small requests while there - some laundry needing done, take delivery of a suitcase for a friend staying nearby, book a local restaurant. The staff handled all this in a friendly, efficient and professional manner. The rooftop bar has great views, the pool area thankfully has no piped music and is for grown ups. Breakfast is perfectly adequate and well-stocked. The walk to the old town along the seafront is pleasant. There are interesting cafes and restaurants nearby, including down on the seafront. I felt valued as a customer and well taken care of. If staying in Porto again, I wouldn't look anywhere else.
We were breaking our journey after 4 other hotels in Portugal over 9 nights. Boa Vista was on par with the best. Very friendly welcome, Nuno extremely helpful booking and organising a couple of things for us. Good room (102) with view over river, castle and sea; would have been even better if not misty! Would happily stay there again.
