We’re used to Pestanas (Palace in Lisbon, rua Jau & Do Freixo in Porto) and this one’s really worth it. We had a lovely, quiet room (226) facing the Douro and the staff were really up to their tasks, especially Jao and Tomas who were very helpful finding nice places and restaurants and who perfectly took care of us. So did the lady serving breakfast! Thanks for everything! We’ll be back!
I always take a spring trip, though with CVD burgeoning at the beginning of the year I had to make some last minute changes to destination. I was so lucky to stumble upon this family of hotels! I booked an extended stay at The Vintage, and was intending a quiet time exploring the city and writing. The location of the hotel is spectacular and it's always amazing to stay in a world heritage site. The room was large, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast was perfect. However! What gives this hotel 5 stars is THE STAFF. Unfortunately, my extended stay was booked during football championships, and there was a large and heavy drinking crowd from morning until night...with lots of singing and table thumping. I'm all in for fun, but it's not so conducive to writing or sleep! The staff moved me to a wonderful room in hopes it would be quieter, but no such luck. They then worked with me to find another hotel that may be better suited to my needs, and made that shift completely painless. The family of hotels is Pestana, I think, and they are wonderful. I wish I could remember the names of all who helped me at the Vintage, because they so deserve recognition!…
7 nights in this stunning hotel! The location is 5* I would absolutely recommend staying in this hotel and by the river. Porto is a lovely city and by Douro river is especially beautiful. 10 mins walk into the city centre but by the river is the most beautiful location. Reception staff are particularly helpful. A special mention to Maria for arranging our beautiful room. Thank you Maria, everything was just perfect 👌 We are forever grateful xxx
Just boarding a hotel ship for four nights on the river Douro, we spent one night at this hotel. Plus points! The reception staff (Cristina) were very friendly and effficient. The bedroom was large and comfortable with three French windows leading out to a small balcony and a fantastic 180 degrees view of the river Douro immediately below us. Negative points! The restaurant which we were very much looking forward to was closed. We were told due to COVID. However it was the only closed restaurant we came across in the vicinity. The breakfast was absolutely dismal and pathetic. Hardly any choice or selection. (No cereals, fresh fruit, bacon or additions to the small portion of scrambled eggs etc) and a disgrace for a 5 star hotel charging over €360 per night. Unfortunately, I shall not recommend this hotel to my friends.…
This hotel gave us a very good stay . Our room was ready for us early. The hotel is very much in the middle of everything but was very quiet . The advise we were given about places to eat and trips to take were very helpful We would recommend it as a very good place to stay on Porto.
