We loved it, once we found it! Didn't have satnav so left car at bottom of hill and walked up. Not a problem after a long drive. The owner was so welcoming and got his son to drive me back to fetch the car. The room was in the tower with views, best to get one facing West towards the...

we stayed two nights ay Castelo de Santa Catarina, it was an amazing experience. You don't expect to see that much culture and history in a hotel.Breakfast room, garden and other common use areas are full of woodcarving, tiles with pictures and obecjts that have been used many years ago. In the room ew had a closet and a bed...

This hotel is incredible! It has a whole antique look and decor. You can really stay in an old 'castle' tower for the night with old furniture and feel! Don't pass out on a ride up to the last floor and peek through the small window like an arrow-slit from the middle ages! It was perfectly clean despite the old...

Don't make the mistake of staying in Garden Room 105 in chilly weather. The hotel is charming in many ways, and no doubt lovely in warm sunny weather, but we booked on-line and should have not chosen a garden room. On arrival we asked to change but were told the hotel was full and we couldn't. The air conditioning is...

We stayed at the top suite in the tower. It was so amazing! Great views, traditional feel and just definitely worth staying. I would never stay anywhere else. The grounds are also beautiful with a small chapel built within. It's a bit like like museum that reflect typical Portuguese living. It's very quiet inside, tucked away from the street. It's...

Easy to find with satnav, but a bit of a walk down into town. An architectural oddity, and old fashioned furnishings/decor. We stayed in a tower room....great view, not for those who don't like heights or cannot do steep stairs (no lift). Probably not great for children unless using one of the outside chalet rooms. Clean, a Victorian era bathroom...

A unique place, probably unknown to most locals (as myself!) I went there attracted by the idea of having a hidden castle inside my own city. The place has indeed its charm. Of course there is no luxury, but the price is a suitable one. I recommend it - even if you live in Porto and want to find something...

Difficult to find, but a great location for a visit to Porto. An easy walk down into the town (and easy taxi ride back!). Very helpful staff, wonderful breakfast buffet, clean fully appointed rooms, easy parking space. The building, rooms, and garden are all fascinating and unique, furnished with antiques, sculptures, and Portuguese blue tile on the exterior. We had...
