We had a very pleasant stay in Alvaro house. Even though we didn't meet in person, the greetings were good and many exchanges we had were really useful. The place is close to everything, we did not take any transportation (excepted maybe once to get up with the funicular. As Alvaro advised, The breakfast at Pedeirinha doce, a few meters...

Dear Claude Thank you so much for your kind words. We are pleased that it all worked out well for you and you enjoyed our city. Porto has much developed in the last few years and it has many things to offer, but fortunately it did not loose the charm of the Northern people and it maintained it´s personality. Our place...

The hotel owner was really kind and much better than our lonely planet. :-) He told us what to visit and where to find the best restaurants in town. The hotel/ house is an authentic traditional Portuguese family home restored into a more modern version one. We really appreciate the internal design. The room was neat and spacious and you...

The house hides it's very beautiful and interesting interior behind a modest facade. The room was fun, beautiful and clean. Staying within 18th century walls while visiting old Porto was a fantastic addition to our trip. We were within a few minutes of Ponte Louis (THE bridge) and all of old Porto. We didn't need to get in the car...

Our stay started off so well when Alvaro met us at the door and gave us a complete tour of the house, including what to do in case of fire (never had that explained in detail before). He was very helpful, even giving us a map of Porto and recommending places to go and restaurants to eat at (which made...

This is a great little apartment in Porto, very conveniently located, charming building, quiet, spotlessly clean. Easy walking distance to most of the major sights, shops, bakeries, bus station, etc., and easy to walk across the bridge to do some port tasting on the other side of the river. The apartment has all of the modern conveniences (just watch your...

We spent 5 nights at Casa dos Guindais in early October after a recommendation from a friend. The apartments are in a great location close to the cathedral and Sao Bento railway station in a one way street ( no through traffic) so there is little car noise . There is some foot traffic as there is a splendid view...

Very quiet, clean and comfortable. Owner is available for any questions or concerns. Enjoyed the Pateo room, had coffee every morning in the sun. Parking was in a secure garage a few blocks away for 9 euros. The funicular is around the corner- very convenient. Would stay here again!

As intrepid walkers, we could not ask for a better location in Porto for this lovely set of rooms in a lovingly remodelled old row house down a quiet side street in the throbbing heart of old Porto. The house sits in a row opposite the city wall, only a few minutes walk from Sao Bento station, and all the...
