Detailed Reviews
My wife and I love this hotel so much. Sure it's not without flaws being a new property, but it's easily the nicest Ibis we've stayed at. The property is in a great location downtown, the rooms are quiet, they allow pets, and the spaces are easy on the eye. Our favorite part of the hotel are the people. Because we've stayed multiple times now and for different lengths as well as needing help with things in Porto, the staff knows us by name and we feel the love from them. They're all very warm people for sure. The elevators can be a bit wonky and the halls are a bit narrow so keep that in mind if you have a lot of luggage. It's definitely tricky since we stayed here with a lot of gear. We'd stay again. Love it. Thanks, Ibis Center Mercado do Bolhão crew.

My wife and I along with our 9 month old and 1.5 kg Yorkie just moved to Porto from the US. We wanted to stay one night in a hotel before moving into our new apartment. The taxi from the airport to the hotel was just shy of €30. Bruna was working at the front desk and she was really friendly and accommodating. Our Portuguese is not great, but she was able to serve us in English with ease. One thing to note for us is that we had a lot of stuff since we were moving countries and one of the lifts was out of service. The lifts like in most older European buildings are smaller. After check-in, we went to the room. Wow! Best Ibis hotel room we've ever seen. Really good design with a king bed facing the TV and a double bed around the corner. There was a ton of storage space with open shelving. Normally, Ibis is very cookie-cutter but this room was unexpected in a great way. We slept well (although the baby was fussy from 12-2 am due to jet lag) so well that we woke up at 10:30 am and were needing to do a lot before check out. We got a late checkout for 2 pm because we were going to be moving things in shifts to our place. Much to our surprise, we get to the elevator in the morning with our first load and both lifts are out of service. We went to the reception and the manager saved the day. She saw our distress, knew our situation, and got the maintenance staff to stop work on one of them so we could use it over the next 90 min. We were grateful. Checkout was a breeze. We'll certainly pop back in there for a coffee at some point and catch up with our new friends at the Ibis Center Mercardo do Bolhao.

We stayed for four nights in at the Ibis Porto Centro Mercado. First off, the Staff are very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Ricardo, the manager and his team are great. The hotel check in (front desk) is in the same location as a nice sitting area, bar / small restaurant, breakfast dining area and what looks to be a sometimes music club. This area makes up for the lack of space in the hotel rooms as previous reviewers have mentioned. There is a small kitchen attached where you can order pizza, sandwiches, etc. The breakfast was a good value. The location is one block from the Bolhao Market and 5 minutes from the Metro. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

Location was good and pretty everywhere was within walking distance.
Hotel itself is in quirky older building but rooms were generic Ibis style The room was quite small but as I was staying solo it wasn't much of a issue.
The reception is located on the 2nd floor and only had brief encounters with the staff but had no issues.
Would probably stay here again.

It is difficult to park on the street to reach the hotel. However, you can use the underground car park located on the other side of the street, for a fee in agreement with the Ibis reception. Two small elevators will take you to the hotel reception/dining room which is located on the second floor and is not particularly spacious or pleasant but adequate. The room, in an ibis Industrial style, is not particularly pretty and the window is poorly placed in a corner, but the bedding is excellent and the bathroom pleasant. On the other hand, you will have to reframe the cleaning lady who knocks every hour to clean your room despite the presence of the sign asking not to be disturbed...

The hotel may be 3 stars, but the attention, availability and friendliness of the staff are worth 5 stars. The room was spacious, with lots of natural light and in a very central location that allows you to visit the city's main tourist attractions on foot. Very quiet, which allows for a good rest at night. The only thing to point out is the cleanliness of the floor, it could be improved. The metro and buses are also very close to the hotel and the surrounding area is quiet.

The hotel was located in a great area to walk and shop and was amazingly quiet and comfortable. My favorite thing was the hospitality in the barr office, breakfast area, and the small balcony in my room. My first impression of the room was that it needed a fresh coat of paint, but the bed was very comfortable and everything was clean and nice, and I love the unique quaintness of everything offered.

First time I have stayed at this particular hotel in the Ibis chain, but I would stay again. There were good Covid systems in place, and the room was clean and adequate for what I needed.
I had a room on a higher floor, and of an evening there was a great view of the church - lit up.
There were no tea making facilities in the room, but it was easy to get a drink from the bar and take it to the room.
Given it was in the city centre, it was quiet, the bed was comfy and you could get a good nights rest

Disappointing to say the least. Started off with friendly staff however when I had to call down to let them know that shower wouldn’t drain and had in fact flooded the bathroom and I needed to shower ASAP as we had a tour things went downhill quickly. A guy showed up with a bunch of towels (clearly this wasn’t the first time) and said he would send maintenance up. We waited 40 mins and I called down only to be told it would be more than an hour before maintenance would be coming. I said I needed to shower and the concierge said go ahead and shower. Ummmm madame the bathroom was FLOODED and she seemed unconcerned. I then showered like I was in an RV. Shutting it off while soaping up which is definitely not ideal in an unfamiliar shower. I got soap in my eyes many time. That evening I went down to the 24 hour lobby to get a water and coffee. I inquired as to where to get coffee cups and the staff working was horribly rude and pointed like I was stupid at some paper cups (which by the way do NOT fit the automatic coffee sizes out of the machine). The next morning the staff asking what room we were in scoffed at my husband when he told her which room we were in. First rude people we met in Portugal. Everyone else has been fantastic! Glad to never return to this hotel.

Really friendly welcome and they couldn’t do enough to help. Good Continental spread for breakfast and tea and coffee and hot drinks are free all day. Breakfast was just under €9. Bed is very comfortable, and the room has an urban feel to it in that it is quite basic but adequate. Shower gel and shampoo available and plenty of towels. A little disappointed that there were not tea and coffee facilities in the room but as mentioned before hot drinks can be gotten any time of the day. Bar in the reception was open and prices are reasonable.
