We stayed here for one night however spent most of the time down by the river. I'm not entirely sure of how good the location is but it was a good 20 minute walk down to the river where we were for drinks. When we got back we stayed in the rooftop bar until 2am, which is a nice touch to be open so late. Staff were friendly enough and the rooms were clean. Breakfast was great too. Seemed like good value overall.

We stayed at this establishment for five nights, and it appears we really had a very different experience compared to many who gave high ratings here. As we arrived early afternoon, we knew we couldn’t have room access till 14:00H. However, we were told to come back at 15:30, as our room wasn’t ready yet. We’re easy-going people, and despite one of us being not fully healthy, we didn’t mind, and so just walked around the area to acquaint ourselves. Upon checking again at the said time, our room still wasn’t available. At least one male receptionist was friendly and apologetic, and gave us two coupons of Port wine for compensation — he requested us to wait at their bar on the 17th floor till our room was ready. It was ok that nobody informed us that our room was ready, but were taken aback with the attitude/tone of one of the newly replaced receptionists when we asked if they had a room on a higher floor/with a view. Obviously we didn’t know that the comfort suite room we booked is only located on the second floor, so we were quite surprised when her reply and strict tone of voice that was reprimanding and terse, retorting, “That’s the rule. That’s what you booked — that’s what you get!” Ok, wow, that’s the first time we heard someone speak like that at a hotel. Instead of quite an aggressive and dead-end answer, and from our point of view, it would’ve been “better” if she proposed us to upgrade when the hotel wasn’t fully booked anymore, or simply reply with a more customer-focused tone — it is the essence of the hospitality industry. Nevertheless, we let it go and just wanted to get some needed rest. The comfort suite was spacious, beds looked cozy (on the hard side though), sofa/lounge chair was comfortable, there were ample tv channels, and rain shower felt refreshing — all expected from a standard 3-4-star establishment. There are no water glasses, and other small amenities that one usually has in a room — that was all ok for us. What surprised us was when we asked to borrow cutlery, and were asked to pay €1.- for each set. Wow — we’re guests staying five nights here, whereas the other restaurants gave us cutlery at no cost when we had takeout (moreover, they didn’t even know us)! Breakfast is good for a 3-star hotel, so don’t expect too much. The fresh pineapples were great though! The 17th floor/upper deck roof restaurant patio has a very good view, but the small space can‘t accommodate many — be sure to go there when people are busy touring around/out of the hotel. When checking out, it would’ve been “nice” to hear a “Thank you for your stay” or “We hope you had a pleasant stay”, etc., but no, just the invoice slide on the counter and that was it. Really, we didn’t feel welcome many times, and we’re quite open and friendly people, saying hello, good morning, thank you, etc. to whomever. The doormen in general were probably the most consistently welcoming from all. Generally, the staff don’t look “happy” :( Perhaps top management should look into this — needless to say, the staff’s happiness reflects on their performance and interactions with customers.

I’ll keep this short. I stayed her for a long weekend with my mother, but I’d recommend this for couples, families or business. The room we had was a suite on the 11th floor and was so lovely and spacious with a balcony and the views were great. All the staff were very nice. The food in the bar and restaurant was lovely. We pre-book the restaurant a must when staying. It was a lovely stay and close to the metro and shops and sites. I’d highly recommend it.

I was booked on this hotel for a two day stay and write the review while I am still in. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and you reach all you need by walking. Down to the river its maybe 10 mins walk. My room is a single room and good for one person stay. All nice and clean, nothing looks worn out. I enjoyed two drinks in the bar on level 17 last night. This is big with cosy furniture. Had a good portwine and a fabulous view on the old city of Porto. There is no parking around the hotel and I suggest to come here by taxi from the airport. Its about 20 mins ride from there, not bad. Please do not forget that Portugal is on GMT, meansing one hour behind countries as France, Swiss and Germany. Its my second stay in town and its a very nice city. Christmas lights are currently installed, but not on yeat. Its very easy to imagine how nice this will be. From the hotel this is all in 100 m distance to reach. You need good shoes, there are many hills in the city.

Hi there Maria, I booked through Hotels . com and got what I would say was a very good rate. I booked 3 standard rooms for me and my 2 friends and we paid £139 Sterling for a room, if you can figure out what that is in dollars that might help you. Emily

I suggest a taxi. Also, Uber works well in both Porto and Lisbon. Enjoy your stay in Porto!
