The terrace is absolutely stunning. The rooms are good enough, the room's sea facing balconies were a great place to start the day. The downstairs pool is big enough to relax. The buffet breakfast is quite diverse, for example you can have a full English breakfast if that's what you are looking for.
We had a wonderful stay at the Regency Cliff. The location is a little out of town but the hotel offers a shuttle service into town which we used and found it to be very good. The views over the ocean are amazing. The hotel is small but has all the facilities we needed. The terrace and pool areas offer plenty of seating for guests, The hotel is immaculately kept. Breakfast buffet was very good. Staff were super helpful and friendly. We would definitely return and would recommend this hotel.
This was our fourth stay at the Madeira Regency Cliff and we were so pleased to return after being covid bound for so long. Our expectations were not dashed and we had a wonderfully relaxing week listening to the waves and watching the boats sail by. The staff are so friendly and everything you ask for is done with no fuss and with a smile. The breakfast is amazing. They have adapted well to covid times and we felt totally safe at all times. We can't wait to return!
Nice clean hotel in a good location, built into the cliff, with fantastic views. A long walk into Funchal, so a courtesy coach is provided. The reception, seating area, restaurant and bar are at street level on floor 6 with a big terrace at the rear of the building. Rooms are located on the floors below (1-5) and the view from the balconies is quite breathtaking. The small swimming pools are on level 1 with the pool bar. The outdoor circular one is quite cold so we preferred the warmer indoor one which was even smaller. If you want to do serious swimming this hotel isn't for you. The bed was comfortable although we were plagued by small black ants running across the bed, floors of bedroom, bathroom and balcony until the maid got us some ant killer spray. The ensuite has bath with shower over, which might not be easy for people with mobility issues. We would have preferred a proper shower cubicle. The staff are lovely and very friendly and helpful. The one thing we did find disappointing was the food. We made the mistake of booking half board, eating in the hotel restaurant every evening. It was certainly an interesting experience having to wear plastic gloves and facemask at the buffet. You had to have sharp elbows as we were regularly pushed in front of by other guests who appear to have no concept of queueing, respect for others and social distancing. The food itself was OK, but on several evenings, being vegetarian, we had practically no choice as the salads and hot vegetables were often adulterated by the addition of meat, fish and seafood. Even though there was one hot vegetarian item every evening there was nothing left on several occasions, as the meat/fish eaters had taken it (and who can blame them) so we had to make do with whatever salad we could eat with cheese for protein. One salad had a long black hair within it which rendered it inedible. If we stay in the hotel again, it will be on a B&B basis and we will eat in local restaurants in the evenings.…
Superb hotel which is just outside of Funchal centre, the hotel is very clean with friendly staff, and all rooms have a sea view and have plenty of space with comfortable beds. The food in the hotel is excellent and is done on a buffet style so you have a choice off what you would like. Overall this is an excellent hotel to stay in it's nice and quiet with shops and restaurants near by if you wish to eat out. It's a great hotel for couples who like a quiet hotel without too many rooms so doesn't feel over crowded.
