The Hotel is very clean, breakfast is good, friendly staff. Nuno is the best, very funny, will help you with anything, just ask. The hotel location is the best - right in the city centre. We had an Amazing holiday in Beautiful Madeira.

Great location for walking to Funchal sights and great restaurants. The staff are really helpful and pleasant and our room was small but comfortable with a tiny kitchenette and all the required facilities.Great supply of hot water in the shower. The decor in the hotel is very different and all the communal areas are black with quirky photographs which might be bit much for some, but it did not bother us. Breakfast was good and we did not use the restaurant for dinner.

On the plus side: the location is good for the city centre, the bathrooms are well fitted and the beds were fairly comfortable There are some big issues here however; The "design" is basically about how many shades of black you can use, and wow doesn't a bit of chrome set it off - oh how I miss the 80s. It's actually pretty ugly. There are some basics missing from what is meant to be 4* hotel; There are no seating areas outwith the rooms other than the formal (small) restaurant/breakfast room, the rooms are air conditioned but this turns off when you leave the room so it takes a while to get comfortable when you get back. The same power cut off means there can't be a fridge to keep drinks cold, and no minibar obviously. The safe didn't work without the override key, and some of the wardrobe furniture was showing a lot of wear (and did I mention that its ugly?) We were also fortunate to be on the 1st floor when the lift broke down for a day! And to cap it all the breakfast service is poor. The service was managed by one person trying and failing to clear plates and set tables, replenish the buffet, take orders, and deliver orders to tables. There was shouting for coffee one morning (I stress not by me) and only on the third day did I actually manage to get a seat with a cup, cutlery and napkin there before me; but the orange juice was empty. This was Basil at his worst, but without Manuel to keep it running. This is NOT a four star hotel, its frankly rubbish

Excellent place to visit. Good walks and excursions. Full of nice places to eat...even has a proper Vegan Restaurant. There are many tours to book and sites to see. Lots of fresh vegetation all year round. Nice hotels and friendly people.

Really funky 16 room place with overly modern design.  Not for everyone. Squeezing 4 rooms to a triangular building shape was their main challenge, resulting in rooms of various sizes and layout. All that's ok, if one is flexible. Some of the design choices are quite strange, and possibly upsetting.  For example, everything is black, with touches of white and, gasp, color.  And large posters of Victorian athletes and dancers have been described as exotic.   But to have made the room facing-wall of the bathrooms clear glass is simply wrong.  To say nothing of the plumbing problems. I may be older but I think many would choose not to put personal grooming and maintenance activities on display. Did not try the restaurant for other than breakfast.  My omelet was dry as toast, juice was tasteless, and the coffee was very weak. Biggest positive here is the location, in a close neighborhood to popular shopping and dining streets.
