I feel compelled to write a review for the Lisbon Lounge Hostel because of its sheer excellence in every area. I'm a relatively experienced traveller, having stayed in hostels in over 20 European countries, and without a doubt the Lisbon Lounge Hostel stands head and shoulders above the rest. Why? Here's a list: - Excellent, friendly, service at all times...

I just absolutely loved this hostel. The style of the decoration is just so house-warming that you feel like home. All day there's Jazz playing (very subtle) through the speakers and the staff is just very welcoming and helpful along the full stay. I extended my stay with two nights because I just loved it so much (also because I...

Our room was stuffy, wi-fi in room is non existent and street is really noisy early morning. Slept with open window because of stuffy room but woke up before 6:00 due to street noise. Central location, but not my best hostal experience in Lisbon!

A great value hostel in a very central location. The decor is modern and arty while still being comfy and welcoming. The staff there are just wonderful. The food is 10 euros for three courses including wine. So cheap and so amazing. Eating with the other people from the hostel is a lot of fun too. They put on loads...

I visited Portugal for the first time, staying for a few days close to Lisbon. The last day we received a recommendation for this hostel, as my colleague and I had the flight next day. The place is really close to some tourist attractions. It is clean, diverse and full of diverse travelers and extremely warm and cozy personnel.

This hostel had a clean and fresh feel to it. It was spacious and offered great options for travellers: full day trips, evening activites and suppers made in their lovely kitchen. I highly recommend this hostel. The staff were all helpful and kind and there is a someone at reception 24/7. The washrooms and showers were clean. The location was...

I am a student who visited Lisbon solo. This was my first solo trip and LLH was the BEST hostel for my situation. The common areas are filled with diverse, friendly travelers. There is a DELICIOUS dinner every night for 10€ made by a local which I went to twice and met tons of friends to hang out with the...

There were such a diverse group of travellers staying here that you could easily find someone to talk to. The common areas and kitchen were really great for meeting people and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a double with our own bathroom and everything was perfect, but the facilities for the shared dorms and rooms looked...

I would never stay anywhere else in Lisbon! The hostel was beautifully decorated, and the big lounge made a great space to meet other travelers. We couldn't believe the value for money, the free breakfast was great and the rooms are huge. Also, it was very clean!

This is an award winning hostel and I could totally see why. It's quite 'boutique' with lots of interesting artwork, character and they've saved plenty of space for guests to relax in that they could have used to cram more rooms in. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the location is perfect. If I'm ever back in Lisbon...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

With supreme comfort, cleanliness, style and security, the multi-award-winning Lisbon Lounge Hostel is the perfect place to call home during your visit to our fantastic city. The LLH was the first hostel in Lisbon, opened in 2005 as a project by four Portuguese. From the beginning the concept was simple: to give backpackers a first-class Lisbon experience at budget prices. Through the years we have continued to improve our service, and we were recently voted the best Small Hostel in the World 2010 and 2011 by Hostelworld. Our services include free walking tours, free nightlife tours, bicycle rental, mini bar and free coffee and tea all day. For a low cost you can join other guests for our three-course hostel dinner, cooked by our talented Portuguese chef. We also offer cheap van tours (during summertime) to the romantic historical town of Sintra and the local beaches. Were located in the heart of Lisbon's historic Baixa district, the main tourist centre of the city. The hostel is just around the corner from the iconic Rua Augusta, a grand and beautiful mosaic-tiled pedestrian street capped by a colossal arch. A short stroll will also take you to the charming suburb of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon and the home of Fado, the music of Portugal. At night you can walk to the famous Bairro Alto, a labyrinth of bars and street parties. All forms of public transport, including the airport shuttle and the Cascais beach train line, are within very short walking distance of our hostel. With so much on offer, you will have everything you need to have a comfortable, memorable and fun stay in Lisbon.
