This hostel is in a nice location, however everything closes at 8-9pm, so it is sketchy to walk around after that to try & find food. If you have heavy luggage be prepared, as its all stairs going up... rooms start on level 2-4. The beds are comfortable, however the pillows are small & lumpy. The rooms are very hot...

Short stay in lisbon - hostel was very easy to find a short walk from the metro which can be taken direct from the airport - all too easy! The rooms are very nice and clean and spacious. The hostel decor is fantastic - very unusual. Price includes breakfast which was simple but fresh!

My daughter Bridget treated me to a holiday on Lisbon Portugal and she booked us into the Lisbon Lounge Hostel for three nights. I was a bit sceptical about staying in a hostel, as my only other experience of staying in a hostel was rather disastrous (thats a whole other story in itself!). I was totally surprised by the Lisbon...

This hostel is fantastic! It's spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, and has huge rooms with nice common areas and a kitchen on each floor. I stayed in the 6 bed mixed dorm with ensuite bathroom and it had the best shower ever! Everyone from young solo travelers to families with kids and older travelers were staying here, so there is something...

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was very nice, it was always very clean and tidy. All the rooms had individual art work in them which was a nice touch. The wifi was pretty poor in our room on the 3rd floor which was a little annoying, but it was fine downstairs. The breakfast was Superb we had...

Went there in March 2015 and still brings back good memories. This is hands down one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at, in the whole world. The staff are super friendly, the place has everything a hostel needs and looks great on top of that. The group meals are delicious, cheap, and a great way to get to...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

With supreme comfort, cleanliness, style and security, the multi-award-winning Lisbon Lounge Hostel is the perfect place to call home during your visit to our fantastic city. The LLH was the first hostel in Lisbon, opened in 2005 as a project by four Portuguese. From the beginning the concept was simple: to give backpackers a first-class Lisbon experience at budget prices. Through the years we have continued to improve our service, and we were recently voted the best Small Hostel in the World 2010 and 2011 by Hostelworld. Our services include free walking tours, free nightlife tours, bicycle rental, mini bar and free coffee and tea all day. For a low cost you can join other guests for our three-course hostel dinner, cooked by our talented Portuguese chef. We also offer cheap van tours (during summertime) to the romantic historical town of Sintra and the local beaches. Were located in the heart of Lisbon's historic Baixa district, the main tourist centre of the city. The hostel is just around the corner from the iconic Rua Augusta, a grand and beautiful mosaic-tiled pedestrian street capped by a colossal arch. A short stroll will also take you to the charming suburb of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon and the home of Fado, the music of Portugal. At night you can walk to the famous Bairro Alto, a labyrinth of bars and street parties. All forms of public transport, including the airport shuttle and the Cascais beach train line, are within very short walking distance of our hostel. With so much on offer, you will have everything you need to have a comfortable, memorable and fun stay in Lisbon.
