Casa do Barao is located at Lisbon in a peaceful street of Chiado and 400m from Bairro Alto, two of the most historical neighborhoods of Lisbon. This 18th century building was refurbished in 2014 preserving its old features and adding 12 comfortable and contemporary bedrooms. Ideally located to walk around Lisbon and a few meters from main transports, the House is perfect for just hanging out in the living room and library or in our private Garden, surrounded by nature.

Pros: Perfect location Friendly welcome Nice, light room Free teas, cakes and coffees Gorgeous period property with some lovely common areas Cons: The breakfast was the same everyday. A continental tray with the same 5 items. No allowance was made for being vegetarian, even though I was explicitly asked at check-in. A breakfast platter was served with meat touching all the items everyday. I found that grosse. The room wasn't quite up to standard. Eg broken handles on a few of the furniture pieces. There was a horrid smell from the drains at some points in the day. It really made the bathroom smell badly. When the rooms were made up, some items weren't refilled. Overall, our stay wasn't great value for money. But, the location was amazing.

Beautiful townhouse in central Lisbon. Brilliant location and easy to get around on foot to all the key sights. The accommodation itself is stunning - our room was huge with a view of the garden and pool. Breakfast is served in the garden from 9-11am and includes coffee, juice, pastries, bread and eggs - so perfect to set you up for the day. The host was super kind and had a brilliant list of restaurant recommendations we made good use of. Would certainly stay again!

This hotel is really special. The rooms are extraordinarily tastefully equipped and very clean, to begin with. Enjoying the wonderful breakfast in the charming garden with its beautiful lemon trees and the scent of jasmine gives you a deep sense of pleasure. The housekeepers are very helpful and competent. They help you in even very complicated situations. And they are nice and friendly, of course. We had a wonderful stay and will come back, definitely.

My partner and I stayed with Sara at Casa do Barao in December 2020. We cannot speak highly enough of our experience. Going to sleep in a large bed with great linens after a long day of travel with our The suite was well-appointed and tastefully done. The view overlooking the gardens was stunning in the afternoon and the hotel location is good for accessing the waterfront as well as local shops and eateries. Because the hotel was formerly a family home, you feel like you are stepping into a piece of Lisboa history. Sara and her family are exceptionally inviting and accommodating, going above and beyond to make our two stays restful. Breakfast was a delight and we felt so much at home that we didnt want to leave. Thank you again Sara! Ashton, Christina and August

At arrival, we got a very warm welcome by Roberto. He took the time to give us a LOT of insider tips to explore the city. We got an upgrade with our room, en got the room with rooftop terrace...what a beautiful room!! When on the terrace, looking to your right, you just see the Tagus with al the boats... amazing! The room was very tidy and everything we needed was there. Every morning we got an à la carte breakfast, with handmade juices & a different cake everyday. Also during the day, you could always go downstairs and have some free cake, brownies, ... or even a glass of porto! The house itself is truly beautiful, with an amazing library, beautiful garden and pool, ... as well as beautiful art hanging around the house. The house & room breathe luxury, but still in a very cosy, familiar way. Not at a all the hotel-feeling, but with all the perks though! The location is also PERFECT for visiting the area. You are in the middle of the city and the whole city center is in walking distance. The warmth of these people, in combination with the stunning beauty of the house & the excellent location make this Casa a true GEM in Lisbon. Definitely worth the visit!!!
