The hotel is located in a central location near all transportation form. Perfect if you want a place just to lay your head in, not for spoiling though. Recommended for people who don't want to hang in the hotel but explore and just sleep in an affordable yet great located hotel. Shower was a bit dirty with rust and had...

Hotel Americano is a good ** - star hotel, perfectly located very near the Rossio square. No traffic noise really. The rooms standard are better than many other hotels with two stars. Our two rooms where quite enough, but noise can come from the corridor. The bed was very good. The A/C was broke and the shower cabin was really...

Booked hotel several months prior, not advised of renovations during stay. Concrete dust, wires hanging in your way as you walk through reception. Management need to do that little bit extra for guests - yet he has not got the experience to handle this.

Stayed for a stag do and it was perfect. Rooms a lot nicer than the outside/reception suggest. Bathroom was small but that didn't matter. Nice big window to keep the room cool. Short walk to shops, bars and restaurants.

Other than an ongoing revamp of the reception area I found the place to be quite nice, clean and tidy and good pressure in the showers. Breakfast was ok buy for a wider section I'd suggest eating out in one of the places literally on the doorstep.

This hotel was undergoing a reception facelift and upon arrival we panicked we had made the wrong choice, However looking past the building work the hotel was reasonably priced, great location, nice breakfast, clean rooms and did what it needed to do on our visit for 2 nights Could be improved with more staff interaction with guests and maybe more...

Booked a room months in advance, but were given a lesser room on arrival. Spent the entire 4 day trip trying to get hold of the manager who was clearly avoiding us. Finally, on check out I refused to pay for a room I didn't receive and the manager was miraculously on the phone. He clearly expected me to pay...

I booked this hotel for a group of 9 men for our annual short break to Europe. The primary reasons for choosing this was the location and cost. The location is excellent, really central, next to Rossio square and also the metro to the airport and anywhere else in the city. However, you are only a 10 minute walk to...

The hotel is extremely close to the city center and Rossio metro/train stations. Although it is so close to many busy areas, the noise from the streets was never a problem. Great spacious and clean room. The breakfast was a bit boring, not too many things to choose from, and the coffee was really bad :). But we had plenty...

If you are going to Lisbon for touring I would highly recommend this place. You get more than you paid for. Location is absolutely perfect. A lot of monuments are in walking distance. All kind of transports are near by and runs very often. I would rte this hotel as 3 star hotel. The rooms are very nice and cleaned...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
