First the good- the location is terrific and Largo do Carmo is a great square to hang out in with a cool Kiosk. It's also easy to walk everywhere from Chiado. We found the hotel itself to be OK. While it's not super expensive we had hoped for more. Not close in quality and service compared with something similar priced...

This is a fabulous small hotel in Lisbon. It is well situated for exploring all of Lisbon. The Hotel is beautifully situated off of a lovely square where you can enjoy a refreshing beverage after a day of sight seeing. The rooms are well appointed and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast buffet provides a great selection of hot...

Not only is this hotel is a great location, literally walking distance from so many things, we had a perfect stay here. There's a little square just across the street from the hotel which is a perfect location to get a bottle of wine and just outside and enjoy the entertainment. Quaint and quiet. We stayed on the 5th floor...

Stayed last week for 5 days. Nice, spotless clean everyday . Breakfast enjoyable and pleasant staff in dining room . Very nice reception staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Delightful square with lots of eating places or for just drinks . Extremely busy with cars. Yes rooms are small but very nice. Would return if in Lisbon.

We had an overall excellent stay at the Lisboa Carmo Hotel. While there were a few hiccups (our room had 2 single beds pushed together, but made up as singles, for one - and we're married, not really looking for a separate bed!), the staff at the hotel were superb and very accommodating. They answered all of our questions and...

Exceptional service, relaxed and very helpful. Small but nice room with a great view overlooking Lisboa. Breakfast inckuded everything you could ask for. Adjacent is a very charming square where we enjoyed a drink and later on dined (reasonably priced high quality shellfish). A couple of blocks away you'll find the more touristy streets with the usual chain stores.

We had only one night at the Lisboa Carmo as we had returned from a cruise and had an early morning flight home. First the positives: the staff was very friendly and tried to be helpful. The location is wonderful: the little square near the hotel is delightful and you have easy access to a host of tourist attractions. There...

Staff so helpful. Location very central. Great garden terrace on the square where the hotel serves dinner. Would not recommend a car in Lisbon. Very narrow streets and drivers are aggressive. Nice rooms, great bathrooms. Wifi very robust and can be accessed in the square.

This hotel located on the edge of one of the nicest plaza's in Lisbon (Close to all the hustles & Bustles). Rooms on the 4th floor have the city/Semi River view. The staffs were kind and friendly. Breakfast is recommended, but the I wasn't to keen on their lunch and dinner dishes.

This hotel was spectacular after rugged backpacking and shared hostel accommodations. The room offered many windows and doors leading to the amazing terrace. I also liked that the bed was king size with multiple pillows. Posh

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
