Fantastic views from rooftop restaurant, both in the daytime and at night. Very popular, so need to book. Lovely bedroom: small, but beautifully decorated. Staff really made you feel looked after. They were very knowledgeable about the area and could give suggestions about places to visit, and places to eat. I'm a very independent traveller, and usually don't want any...

The hostal is in a great location, overlooking the city and the river. It is at walking distance to most places of interest in Lisbon's historic downtown. The staff service is great and very attentive. For any leisure trip the place is perfect. I would definitely stay here again when in Lisbon.

Stayed for 3 nights in Jan 2016. Great location, walking distance to every where. Million dollar view on the rooftop cafe. Good breakfast but we have had much better coffee else where in Portugal. What really stands out is the superb service. The staff is super friendly and helpful! They made us feel like a VIP! There was one glitch...

WOW! What Views! The Monte Belvedere was the last place we stayed on our 3+ week tour of Portugal. This could not have been a more fitting spot to end our journey in this beautiful country. All the staff were absolutely wonderful and helped us with any question or arranging anything we needed. They really went above and beyond. When...

Well organised hotel, recommended: airport transfer coming 28 euro,s, leaving 15 euro,s. We had a superior room nice view on the river, there are 12 rooms more without view to the river. Slept good, bed good and no street noise. To go down to the Ribeira market (near the river)river is a nice short walk, but to come back your...

We stayed here for 6 nights in mid September and have nothing but the highest praise for this great guest house. The location is superb, being close to the #28 tram and within easy walking distance to the Baixa - Chiado metro stop, close to Elevador da Bica and downhill to Cais do Sodre station. Breakfast was absolutely superb (...

My wife and I spent the last few days of our month in Portugal at Monte Belvedere. The staff are focussed on traveler needs: information, suggestions about what to see and where to eat, help with reservations, bookings for tours etc. We found the staff to be exceptional; always cheerful, always helpful. This is an old building that has been...

We stayed for 3 nights in September in a lovely room on the ground floor of this very well located guesthouse. Staff were friendly and helpful and the roof terrace/breakfast room has the best view in Lisbon!

The hotel is in a great, central location – perfect for exploring the city. AND the room was quiet at night. Mariana, Jessica and Anna (who run the place) are really friendly. They recommended great places to go for food and went beyond the call of duty, posting me the scarf I accidentally left there.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Some say it has the best view of Lisbon! From our panoramic restaurant where breakfast is served every morning for our guests, you will not be indifferent to the Cristo Rei embracing Lisbon, the river Tagus [Tejo], the 25th of April Bridge with lights showing where the Atlantic Ocean begins and also the Basilica da Estrela that stands out between the rooftops of Lapa… However, the main feature of Monte Belvedere by Shiadu is not simply its amazing view! Its 13 rooms, some of which with a magnificent view of the river Tagus , have all the comfort you need for an unforgettable stay and our dedicated staff will welcome you, making you feel as if you were at home. Every day you will enjoy our delicious home-made breakfast prepared just for you! Near Monte Belvedere by Shiadu you will find the Northwind Statue [Estatua do Adamastor] (fictional character created by Luis de Camoes, in his master works The Lusiadas). The higher part of Santa Catarina is one of the most beautiful places of Lisbon and only two steps away from the city buzz. With views over the river Tagus it is said that since the 17th Century this plateau, once known as Monte do Pico or Monte Belvedere, is famous because of its lookout point. According to legend throughout the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, from here one could see the moving ships: this is why still today there is a proverbial saying that is: “Ver navios no Alto de Santa Catarina” [“Watching the ships from the top of Santa Catarina”). Follow your instinct and we will be waiting…. ... more   less
