The location is magnificent under the great walls of the Se and handy to bus 737 and tram 28. It is a 10 minute walk to the Praca Commercial and metro. Surrounded by a variety of restaurants. The checking in is not till 4.00pm which is very late and arrive early. No lift, hard climb with bags up 3 floors....

We had asked for a twin bed room, but they gave us a double bed with an extra camp cot (that wasn't comfortable and made our room really cramped). The pipes and flush kept making noises periodically. They had one set of keys (incl for the outer door) along with the card for electricity in the room. As a result,...

For the price you pay it is more than well invest. It is placed near the cathedral, in the Alfama neightborhood. Eventhough it includes the breakfast, it doesn't have much choice to eat and we decide to bring some food.

I selected this "hotel" pension? because they allow pets at no extra cost, and I am traveling with my small dog. He was welcome! There is free WiFi. The location is very convenient and central. 28 euro a night (booked online). The staff are friendly. The breakfast is simple fresh bread with butter, cheese or jam, cornflakes, and cupcakes, with...

Had some trouble finding the place when we arrived as its not very well signposted. The room was basic but clean and tidy, and the location is excellent although there was a lot of building work going on. Staff were friendly and helpful and overall our experience was a very pleasant one.

Room 306 is best with a fridge and 2 balconies with great views of river and medieval street .Breakfast poor but included and served 8 to 11.Great...

Tired place, but with personality and endearing character. Strange mix of art - bare breasted women next to the Virgin of Fatima. A great location very central to the old city and newer parts, opposite the cathedral and very cheap. This place is not luxury though. In my bedroom was a big old empty fridge next to the sink, but...

Nice place,e nice house, but technical condition not perfect. Rather strong unpleasant smell... Poor sound isolation. Breakfast was mildly speaking timid. We saw very few people and that was admittable, but in high season it would be crazy house.

The room was simple with a bed, sink, and TV; but if you're like me, you'll only need the room to sleep; the reason to stay here is the location and price! 25€ per night right in the Alfama neighborhood and a 10 minute walk from Rossio Metro and the beach. The best experience I had was taking a 10...

Great location in the Alfama district of Lisbon, could see the cathedral from our window. Room was a good size with a fridge, sink and tv. Shared bathroom with other guests which was always clean. Breakfast was basic, hot drinks, cereal, muffins and bread but brilliant considering the price of the room - 30 Euros a night. To conclude a...

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
