Yes. The location is great. That is where it ends. We stayed here thinking it was a "boutique" hotel. It is not. It is run down and dirty. The savings was not worth it. I was afraid to touch anything in the room.

The location is the only thing this place has going for it unfortunately. The only downer on my visit to Lisbon was this place. All I ask for a B&B is somewhere to crash and a good breakfast. The bed was fine, the breakfast however... Terrible 2 bread rolls and tea or coffee... oh and not forgetting the generous addition...

I stayed for 9 nights in Oct 2016. The hotel has an excellent safe / lockbox set-up. Near the reception desk there is a group of heavy-duty boxes and the client is given the only key to a box. The room was exactly what I want in budget accommodation. (I don't care about decor.) It was clean and the maid...

The location of this hotel is excellent. The rooms are small, outdated and not very well kept, but clean and perfectly functional. The bathroom was fine. There is someone at reception 24/7 so you always feel safe. Breakfast was quite bad, not going to lie - bread, butter and jam and terrible coffee. But all in all, good value for...

Stayed here at the end of June for four days and had a great stay. The staff were very friendly and spoke English very well. The location was perfect just off of the Rua Augusta and a three minute walk to the Praca do Comercio and Rossio train station. The rooms are old as everyone else has stated but were...

Was not hoping or expecting much based on the previous reviews posted here but there is a fine line between old school charm and being absolutely run down. This hotel is in dire need of a serious makeover that no amount of cleaning can replace: bathroom curtain was old and had traces of mold on it, the furniture was literally...

The accomodation is what you expect from a ~20 year old hotel, "not to modern" BUT Clean! The location compensate everything. It is in the hearth of Lisabon! So We recomend to everybody. If I have to I book again in the near future.

The hotel has elevator to 2nd floor where reception is located. It is very well located for walking or trams, buses, Metro in all directions. It's clean, safe, quiet and has absolutely no ambiance. Breakfast is bread rolls and coffee or tea, day after day after day. However, it is very reasonable and had extra blankets and pillows which I...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
