When arriving we heard our promised room was not available, and we got a room on the second floor. Rooms are well equipped, decorated with style, but relatively small. The hotelmanager offered us a compensation for the error, which was appreciated. The employees were very helpfull and polite.

Frankly, I found the website a touch off-putting; all a little jazzy and avant-garde, I thought, but I was wrong, and very glad I booked rooms anyhow. The property is odd; joined commercially to another hotel a block away, and a coffee shop a different block away, it was fabulously quirky. Rooms were good; my travelling companion, as is the...

Excellent hotel with a very hipster feel. Has a lot of high tech gadgets like iMac and iPads for your use in the room. Very clean, excellent location. You can walk just about anywhere. Close to the metro too so you can take that to get to places were further out. One weird thing about our room, the shower wasn't...

We book 3 rooms for 5ppl. The guy in the reception was honest enough to tell that the extra bed is not the best for adults. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy. The airconditioner is working quite noisy but apart from that it is a slient street. We enjoyed our stay.

Overall, I was pretty happy with this hotel. But for a few small things, I would have given it an even higher rating. Pros: 1. Very friendly staff. Everyone spoke English, and was very eager to help plan trips, find restaurants, or call a cab. They also let me check in early because my flight arrived before check-in time. 2....

Good points: modern, contempory decor, very clean, comfy beds, great location, Mac and ipad in room, friendly staff, mini kitchen in room with full size fridge, decent hairdryer. Not so good points: noisy pipework banging at night, street noise at night, wooden floors so you can hear anyone clomping around in the rooms around yours, tiny bathroom with not enough...

The hotel is in a great location, close to shops restaurants, attractions and public transport. The decor of the hotel is very modern and trendy, the staff helpful and friendly. Small things could have improved the stay - attention to detail. No water or drinks are supplied in the mini fridge. One complimentary water would be a nice touch per...

Fabulous hotel in central location, close to a train station, tram 28 and lots of attractions. We stayed in a superior room which was quite large with great closet space which was good for a few days visit. Staff were very helpful. We did not have breakfast included but there were plenty of cafes nearby. Happy hours were also very good....

Great location and easy to find in central down town Lisbon. We used public transport throughout the trip (or walked), & Brown's was perfectly placed for this. The room was not quite as interesting as the entrance lobby, but comfortable never the less, and we don't travel to stay in our hotel room all day!! There were lots of gadgets...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
