Location is somewhat OK but the stay had some problems: items in the kitchen were not clean and in usable conditions. The day we arrived we were rushed into the apartment, hurried to pay the stay. The person that welcomed us brought eggs, ham, butter, yogurt and orange juice (all looking cheap) but he promised that during the day they...

Stayed at Mercador in Lisbon and Mercador Guesthouse in Porto over over the last weekend in November. Both are excellent, very private places to stay while in either city. Loved the privacy of staying in a private apartment house. The rooms and service were both lovely. One thing to note: wifi in the Porto location was not great.

We spent two nights at the Mercador Lisboa and really enjoyed our stay. We texted the rep when we arrived at the airport and they met us at the Mercador, with keys and detailed instructions and local recommendations. Pros: -Very helpful staff, both before and during our trip. -Beautifully decorated, spacious rooms with large, comfortable beds and pretty sitting areas....

The rooms are big and most designed, the mattress are very comfort, The owner is lovely and the location is great. The apartment have full kitchen and the owner brought us everyday merchandise for breakfast.

Had a great stay at the Mercador, the flat had everything we needed and was very close to the centre of town. Bed was ginormous and comfortable, two bathrooms etc. Did lack an iron/ironing board which were needed and requested unsuccessfully - but that was the only criticism. Fridge was always stocked and room was cleaned every day.

Very central and easy to get around, with a little kitchen that we can prepare food for ourselves. But it's a bit annoying that there was no reception so there was noone that you can ask for anything!

Located in the heart of Lisbon in one of the oldest and picturesque streets of the city is the Palácio do Mercador ("Merchant's Palace"), a building whose first record dates back to 1565.Resisting the earthquake that struck Lisbon in 1755, the owner at the time knowing of the presence in the city of the Milanese plasterer Giovanni Grossi commissioned him the decoration of his palace, according the rococo style, coating ceilings with beautiful stucco, the walls with tile ("azulejos") panels and decorative paintings that we can still admire.Over the five hundred years of its existence, the palace was home to many famous people who marked the society of their time through politics, culture and overseas trade.Over the past five years the palace has undergone a profound restoration and conservation, promoted by the current owners and executed by the company CRERE, which brought back the splendor and dignity of other times. ... more   less
