Amazing Hostel with great people and processes to help travelers get the best experience. The Sintra Tour was the best because Ana, our guide was so knowledgeable and a great person to be around. She drove us to Sintra and gave an initial explanation of the town. We were then taken to a wine, meat and cheese tasting all from...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights and ended up going back for more! The staff are amazing, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable don't even begin! The rooftop patio was such a blast and I recommend singing up for the bbq (holy crap it was so good). With the best view and a good vibe, this hostel delivers on location,...

Man, I feel like I got lucky. 12 Euros got me a room, shower, wifi, an included (and large) breakfast, a loaner towel, luggage storage, English-speaking staff, and a super convenient location in Lisbon. Frankly, I don't see how they made any money on me. The one/only drawback is that the cheap price comes with the inconvenience of sharing a...

We were super sad this place was fully booked, but can see why its so popular. They have amazing staff, a great location and a super fun vibe! Even when we had no place to keep our bags for the day, they kindly kept our luggage safe while we went around to explore until it was time for our flights....

I stayed 2 nights at this hostel and quite enjoyed it. The common areas are large and open, and the kitchen and rooms were quite clean. The pub crawl organized by the hostel was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the location of the hostel - super central. The included breakfast was okay - I was there at the...

The hostel is centrally located in Lisbon, directly inside the Rossio Train Station. The station is used by commuters and visitors for day trips outside Lisbon. The hostel was very clean, and has various types of tours for visitors to do throughout the week. The walking tours are great (and free) and give you an insight to the various districts...

Right from our checkin, loved this hostel. Location is right in the heart of the city, with a great view of the Lisbon fort. It's interesting how they have converted a small space in a tram station into such a lovely place. You can see people playing pool table tennis and piano, reading books over coffee in the hostel lobby,...

I stayed here for 5 days, during a roundtrip through Portugal. Pro: perfect location, on the second floor oht the Rossio train terminal, on the edge to 'chiado baixa' and around the corner to 'bairro alto' and just 5 minutes walking to 'alfama'. staff (some better then the others) are born service workers. Always friendly and helpful. price/value: 16€ for...

You can not get a more central location than this hostel. It is located inside the Rossio train station, which has daily trains to Sintra, and has the Restarandoro metro stop right outside. The staff was very helpful. You can drop your luggage off before check-in time. We had a private room with a (very tiny) bathroom. Its location inside...

This hostel is in a perfect location, right in the Rossini train station. From almost right outside the door you can take the train to Sintra for €5 round trip. Despite its central location the hostel was quiet and peaceful as it seems the hostel has put a lot of effort into sound proofing the rooms and building. The bathrooms...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In July of 2011, smack in the heart of downtown Lisbon - Rossio - a new hostel is born. It could be just another hostel, except it's not. Housed in one of Lisbon's most beautiful and renowned buildings - the Rossio Railway Station - an undisputed icon of late XIX Century Romantic architecture (and which has recently undergone a profound facelift), Lisbon Destination Hostel is perched around a winter garden, where light filters down from the rooftop, harmoniously flooding the patio and creating an ambiance that is both tranquil and upbeat. We had planned on catering to a specific target, only to realize later that we didn't have to. We're confident that, between the ample first floor bedrooms (sleeping 4 to 8) with large windows overlooking the historic city, and the double rooms one floor up which peer out over the winter garden, you - whomever you may be - will find your niche. And if all this weren't enough, please note that, from our doorstep, you can take the train to the town of Sintra, a Unesco World Heritage Site just 20 minutes' ride away. Once you get there, you'll understand why. ... more   less
