Our experience at the Lumen Hotel was exactly what we had hoped! One of the best unsung benefits of this hotel was it's location. It's located within a two minute walk to the Picoas metro station, making it easy to get to the airport and any of the high-speed train stations you may be using during your stay in Lisbon. It took ~30 minutes to get from our hotel to the airport (Take Picoas towards Odivelas, get off @ the first stop [Saldanha], and transfer to the red line towards Aeroporto - the airport is the last stop on the red line). It's also easy to use Picoas to head towards more central Lisbon (including the Bairro Alto area and several popular attractions).
Our room at the hotel was amazing - the shower was beautiful, and the bathroom included a hair dryer (which was great!). On each side of the bed, there were USB outlets that allow you to charge your phone, using just your charger cable, without an adapter if you're an international traveler. The room was super quiet despite staying in a fully booked portion of the hotel, and the hotel was kept incredibly clean. We declined cleaning services for most of our stay, and in turn we received €5 vouchers. These vouchers can be used (one at a time) for purchases at the hotel's restaurant, and either of the hotel bars (one bar is located in the lobby, while the other is on the rooftop with the pool). We used our vouchers for cocktails (which were excellent!) and using these vouchers was incredibly easy.
Highly recommend!!

One of the best hotel experiences we’ve had. We arrived early to our hotel to see if we could drop our luggage off and our room was ready! This was an excellent start! The room was very clean, really modern with USB and USB C (newer apple products) charging points all over room. The bed is massive and definitely the most comfortable I’ve sleep in a hotel on. The room is cleaned daily or if you would like to be eco friendly and give it a miss they will give you a €5 drinks voucher! There is a fridge for storing your water in the room although a small bottle is provided most room cleans. There is also a pod coffee machine and a kettle. The rainfall shower is fabulous and refreshing. With a modern hairdryer in the room. The breakfast buffet was superb with everything you could imagine available including champagne! Coffee is topped up by waiters at your table or if you like a different coffee, cappuccino etc they will make and bring to you. The staff are all very young but very professional which is lovely to see young people being giving the opportunity. The location is good in terms of metro and bus routes. We find public transport a great way to get somewhere quickly but you might miss some of the beautiful city so walking is recommended when possible. We had a light show room where we were able to sit and watch the light show from the comfort of our room. The rooftop pool is an added bonus we got to sunbath one of the days while enjoying some cocktails from the rooftop bar. I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough!! 10/10. I wouldn’t normally stay in the same hotel twice but when I come back to Lisbon I will definitely be rebooking here! You won’t be disappointed.

Wuaauuu!!!! Absolutely stunning review. We are so blessed to have such nice guests that spoil us with this sort of feedback. To read that: - this was one of the best experiences you ever had - the bed was the most comfortable bed you slept - you appreciate our concept to give opportunity to young people and train them - you couldn’t recommend the hotel enough - you usually don’t repeat the same hotel but, on this case, you will do that - major recommendation of the hotel Makes us feel so proud…we have very strong ideas, different concepts, and realize this way that so many details are appreciated it means that we are definitely on the right path. We promise that we won’t let you down and we will try to improve every single day. We hope to see you soon. Best regards, Sérgio Bernardo General Manager

The most friendly staffs I have met in Lisbonne, made the effort to communicate in French and English. They will do all they can to accommodate you. Hotel is brand new in soft opening. Price very good, hotel style ultra modern, room impeccable, very close to metro stop. We paid 14€ from airport as we had 2 big luggages. Good for leisure and business
However some details that hotel should improve : pool better heated; pool area should’ve cleaned up more often, towels and used glasses laying around does not look good; should offer bar drinks in courtyard and lobby area to make it more lively at hotel.
We would definitely come back and hopefully prices remain constant
Once again congratulations to the young friendly staffs team as well as management who obviously trains them well. Wish more hotels in Portugal and Europe in general could be like this

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your preference. Your review is absolutely accurate and detailed. Yes, we are a modern Hotel, recently open and still in soft opening mode, but every single day we improve a lit bit more, in order to achieve want we want: to really make a difference and exceed all the expectations our clients may have. It is a challenge, we acknowledge that, but we will do our best once our clients and the hotel deserves that, because it is a magnificent project. But we think that we are going in the right way and to see reviews such as yours let us proud of what we are doing. It is a true honor and a major responsibility to read that you have find here the friendliest staff in Lisbon and that your wish is to have more hotels like this in Europe. But “we accept” the challenge and we will do our best to deserve such compliment. Regarding the rooftop pool, due to the major success, we are trying every day to improve procedures and it is important to say that our rooftop bar is being made and this will change it all (for even much better obviously). We will be waiting for your return. Best regards, Sérgio Bernardo General Manager

My husband and I had the most amazing time and experience in the Lumen Hotel.
From the moment you step in to the reception, they welcome you with pure joy and big smiles. Their willingness to help and make your stay the best. They are always available for any request and they are the NICEST people.

In the hotel there's an amazing patio that's open throughout the day (and night) that is also used for the evening Light show.
The light show is a really cool experience and it is a must go! It is projected inside the hotel on the patio walls. The show itself is unique and we were amazed by it.

The room is color coded, aesthetically pleasing and has a really big bed, with a big smart TV screen and lots of places to store your belongings and suitcases. It also has different light settings that really change the vibe inside of it to your liking.

They keep the hotel constantly clean. We always felt free to ask the housekeeping for things we needed and they instantly provided it to us with a smile (toilet paper, towels, etc.) The bathroom has 5 different types of soaps and lotions for your hands and your body so you can leave yours at home :)
The hotel is also very eco-friendly with cleaning, and has separated bins for recycling in the rooms.

The lounge has a bar and a TV with lots of places to sit with really beautiful decor.

My husband and I really enjoyed the rooftop pool, we've been there daily sunbathing and swimming. It has its own bar as well so you can grab a drink and relax.

The restaurant is really recommended. They offer a buffet in the morning with plenty of fresh food to choose, from savory breakfast to sweets like fruits, pancakes, freshly baked bread and much much more and it's delicious!

The location is spot on - it has a lot of restaurants, bars, and attractions within a walking distance and a lot of public transportation around like metro, buses and taxis, but in the same time it is extremely quiet and peaceful.

Overall, we would definitely come back to this hotel. They have shown us kindness and warmth, hospitality and generosity. We would love to thank the Lumen Hotel Lisbon staff from the bottom of our hearts for everything they've done for us. We will definitely be back and we hope to see you soon. From bellboys to hotel manager, every one of you is a diamond!

You made us feel like home. Muito obrigado por tudo ❤️
Jonathan and Liri

This hotel is a true hidden gem in Lisbon. It was newly built only a couple of years ago, rooms are very clean and modern and other fascilties are in perfect shape. Location is not far from airport or tourist attractions. While public transportation is just around the corner, we used taxis from Bolt App to every major attraction of Lisbon, and fare was under €5.
Also public transport is just around the corner and the supermarket is in 5 min walking distance. We even took Bolt taxi to Belem(€8) or Pena Palace (€18)as the hotel is not far from major highway access. Taxi all the way to the entrance of Pena palace in Sintra made the day trip very simple and convenient.

Light Show was amazing and fantastic every night. It was a very unique experience to watch it from the show view window or balconies of the room or restaurant.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, and I would recommend including it. Hotel also gives €5 voucher per day if you opt out room cleaning. On some day you can skip cleaning and use voucher at bar or restaurant.

The customer base seemed mixed with individual and group, and I have also noticed a good mix of young and senior travelers.

Every employee from housekeeping to manager is very friendly and helpful. They always respond fast with smile for any requests. I have seen workers doing their job with the attitude displaying as if the hotel was their own business.

Lumen Hotel was a perfect choice for my 5 night stay. It was a pieceful place I could relax after heavy sightseeing days and its location also allowed me go out evenings easily after some rest... Hotel staff take well care of the guests.

I will definitely stay there next time in Lisbon.

Tips: On a day planning to experience Gloria Elevator Tram 28, get Viva Viagem 24hr pass (€6.80) from Picoas metro station next to Lumen. You will hop on and off on nostalgic Tram covering major attractions.

Tips: TV has a Chromecast that allows you to watch your own youtube or movies on TV. Also it has very nice Portuguese music video channels including Fado (Chanel69 at 9 pm daily).

This is a fabulous hotel. The rooms are big and have windows that open onto the courtyard where the light show is held every night. The bed is enormous and one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The breakfast is also of the same quality - plenty of everything and all of excellent quality. The pool and roof top are lovely and have excellent views of this lovely vibrant city. Finally the staff are amazing. They are all extremely professional and courteous and take great pride in what they are doing and always go the extra mile for you. The customer service is excellent and overall this is extremely good value for money. This is a very well managed hotel and it shows. The hotel sits right above a metro station and is surrounded by many really good restaurants that are more genuine restaurants than a lot of the touristy restaurants close to old town.

Dear guest, I have to say, that i was dazzled by your words...for me personally it is outstanding to see the recognition of the quality that the Hotel's staff has. We have an amazing team, the engagement is fantastic and as you sayd, we are really proud in what we do, once we believe that we can really make a difference regarding of the service provided. The video mapping show is just unique, wonderfull, absolutelly pricelless. Regarding the super king size beds (2x2,20), the difficult part is when we realise that we have to get up, once the confort locks us inside... We hope to see you soon. The hotel is nice and clean with a very friendly staff.  The room is large and comfortable.  They have a convenient tablet in your room.  They offer a 5 euro voucher to be used at their restaurant if you waive cleaning your room every day. They also have a light show for free every evening at 10 pm that is mildly entertaining.

The breakfast was typical for a nice European hotel, meaning they had a good variety of cold cuts, warm eggs, fried potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, and pastries. They had several juices, tea, and coffee.  I rate it as average.

The Clorofila Restaurant that was attached was good.  The wait staff was professional and friendly. The osso buco was amazing.  However, it was so large it could have fed a family of 8.  We ate as much as we could, but I felt guilty throwing the rest out. Hopefully, they gave it to some hungry dogs waiting in the back alley.  The only negative was the dessert.  It was a creme Brulee (average) with a scoop of mojito sorbet on a bed of coffee grounds. It tasted like three day old coffee grounds mixed with mint flavored crest toothpaste. It was quite possibly the worst dessert I have even tried to eat.

Overall,  the hotel was very good, but the restaurant was average. Quite frankly, the restaurant Capim Limao across the street is much better!

Stayed for 3 nights. Service was friendly and very helpful at reciption and dining areas. Rooms very clean and modern. An option not to have room made up every day is a very good eco-idea that other hotels should take on board. Lisbon was pretty hot so cool air condition room was a haven. Booked rooms overlooking the courtyard so no noise. Light show which we did one night over dinner was very impressive . Rooftop pool small but there was plenty of seating to relax witha drink and enjoy the evening sun. Lisbon is a city of hills and this hotel is 30-35 mins walk to centre but taxis are realtively cheap. Would recommend.

Dear guest, Thank you so much for preference and for your review. You made a very good summary about the hotel and we thank you for that as well. You have pointed out some of our major strong points, such as the size of the rooms, localization, cleanliness, architecture, but of course, the staff was not forgotten and the deserve every compliment. The light show…wow right? It is impressive has you said, a beautiful and immersive show of light and sound that introduces Lisbon to our guests. We can try to describe the show, but it has to be seen, it is unique, outstanding and exclusive. It’s great to see that you have appreciated the option “don’t clean my room”, we think the we were the firsts to do this in Portugal and fortunately as you said, other hotel units are doing this already. Regarding the rooftop, we agree with you obviously and from here, with the amazing view that we have, we can see some of the highlights of this delightful city. We hope to see you soon. I have to say what a fantastic time we have just had at this hotel! From the moment we got there, the reception staff were so accommodating, the rooms were gorgeous, we chose the yellow mood room! So Clean and I love the idea they have of the choice of not having your room cleaned and changed every day and receiving a €5 voucher to spend on anything in the hotel! Such a fantastic idea to save on washing and the environment. Breakfast was gorgeous and again the staff were fabulous. Such a great selection of dishes available. Also, there was no problem in organising some hot oat milk for myself. The rooftop pool was lovely even though it wasn’t open until May which I totally understand. It was nice to go up there and have some quiet time and sit on a sunbed and chill. Gorgeous cocktails available, especially the one with basil, ice cream! Just to die for!. We also enjoyed a very varied buffet lunch at such a good price of €18. Dinner on the evening was also wonderful and the ambience in the restaurant just stunning. We didn’t manage to get a seat on the balcony to watch the light show, but this was something else also! I don’t normally write reviews, but feel I have to let people know what a beautiful and reasonably priced hotel this is! You certainly wouldn’t be disappointed staying here. Local supermarket and pharmacy not far away and restaurants Also Metro station local too, which didn’t cost us hardly anything for the day we travelled on it.
I really don’t have anything negative to say. Just fabulous!
