The hotel is located close to the zoo, you can walk to the zoo. Red bus trip tickets can be bought from
The reception of the hotel and bus stop for it is right across the road. Hotel also helps organise trip to Sintra And Cabo da Roca. Supermarket Lidl is walking distance in 5 minutes. Train station also walkable in 5 minutes. Centrally located. Early morning airport departure one can get a taxi from outside the hotel early morning without any pre booking.

Receptionists at the check-in counter need more training on how to greet and deal with customers. e.g. no smile, not enthusiastic enough with customer dealings, very laid back and unwelcoming. Also, I was unable to contact the reception from our room as there was an issue with the phone line. So, I had to walk down to talk to them and made a request to provide some tea bags as there was none provided. Person {a girl} on duty on 7/1/20 evening promised to send me some tea bags to my room but they never arrived. So, I went to reception again on 8/1/20 morning to find a tea bag. Which I thought was unacceptable. Also, a man on duty on 8/1/20 morning was rude and his attitude is abrupt. I organised a hotel pick-up to go to the airport on 8/1/20. Since the pick up time provided by the company was too late, I asked this man if he could call the service provider to change the pick up time. His answer was, "no, absolutely not ( very harshly). This is the time you will be picked up and there is no change to this arrangement", So, I explained to him, since it is an international flight, we needed to be at the airport at least 2 hours earlier and insisted to make a call to the service provider to pick us up earlier. He hesitantly called them and abruptly 'told' me to 'go' and pick up the phone at a corner of the room to talk to the service provider. I was shaken. His attitude was totally unacceptable and his reaction to my polite and reasonable request was way below what a customer would have expected from a receptionist working for a well recognised hotel brand. As a member of the Accor Live Limitless, and a unit owner of the Accor chain in Australia, I found it difficult to ignore this kind of attitude from a staff member who is employed to serve their customers. I regret not talking to him to express my concerns about his behaviour then and there.

We came to rest, enjoy the food and the surroundings and that is what exactly happened, plus our stay proved to be extremely affordable especially in an European Capital City.

The room at Novotel is spacious, the cleaning staff kind and responsive to our demands and the buffet breakfast a royal treat (Try the omelette with the Cook Lady).

We would recommend one improvement: to re-introduce soap among the bathroom toiletries during those virus-loaded times.

Good job Novotel Lisboa.

I visited Lisboa in August and had booked the Mercure part of the Accor chain using some reward points being a loyal member of the chain for years. On the day of arrival I was informed the Mercure was not operating and I was redirected to the Novotel. The hotel staff who checked me in was so incredibly rude and unwelcoming to the point of really upsetting both myself and my friend (who's birthday it was and decided to leave). In addition the room was old, outdated and run down. The hotel is also in a terrible location. and you will need to taxis everywhere. In the morning the cleaning staff entered the room without knocking at 830am and without wearing a mask! This after they made me PAY and to take another covid test at check in as they did not accept my Covid pass. I had booked 4 nights but decided to leave after one night. Save your money and stay somewhere else, there are tons of beautiful properties in Lisboa centre with will a lot more happy to welcome you.

I had completed check in the day before our arrival indicating that we would arrive before 11 pm. We arrived around 11 pm, but it was clear that nothing had been done to facilitate a smooth arrival. Our family room sofa bed had no sheets. On closer inspection, I noticed that the mechanism was broken and the sofa was impossible to convert to a bed. Under the sofa pillows I found a few sheets of moist toilet paper. Very disgusting. Well past bed time for our kids, I walked to the reception, where I found a helpful person who gave us another room, which was a small upgrade to the next room type, with the main benefit of a free minibar. The room itself was similar, except this time the sofa bed was already made.
We stayed for five nights and until the last night everything went well. The breakfast was great and the rooms were cleaned, items were replenished and correct amount of towels replaced every day.
We had an early flight home and ordered breakfast boxed for 4.30 am. In the morning I went to retrieve them, but the night clerk informed that unfortunately nobody had prepared any kind of breakfast for us. We checked together, and in his book it was indeed correctly noted that we had ordered the breakfast. I said we were leaving in 15 minutes, but he was not able to offer us anything else than fruit, which I politely declined. This meant we had to buy extortionately priced breakfast at the airport instead.

I made a reservation for the beginning of April, which I, obviously, had to cancel; but the hotel is not willing to waive the cancellation fee. In times like this, when the whole world is facing a MAJOR PANDEMIC/crisis, it's unbelievable to see how people/companies still try to take advantage of people.
I can't travel not because I changed my mind, but because there are restrictions IMPOSED by most governments due to the coronavirus, therefore businesses like hotels, airlines, etc should have policies in place to deal with it.
I won't stop fighting as I find it so disrespectful given the circumstances.
Don't count on me to ever stay at a Novotel again, that's for sure!

After decades of staying in Accor hotels, my experience at this Novotel has now made me an ex customer.
I used booking.com and chose the hotel because it is pet friendly and has onsite paid car parking listed as €11 per day.
On arrival at reception we were served? by a very unpleasant lady. She told us €29 per day for our small dog and each time we exit the car park that triggers an €11 charge. So not a per day rate as advertised but per exit !!! Imagine if our room incurred a charge each time we left it - ridiculous. We cancelled our booking and then had a saga over the Novotel no cancellation policy and then wanting to retain the 3 days €276 we had paid. After costly calls to Booking.com customer service and a lot of wasted time, Novotel finally agreed to refund. So we then went to Lisbon Tivoli Oriente where we had a wonderful experience and stayed 4 nights, dog was free and car parking €12.50 per day and exit and return as many times as we wanted for our sight seeing.

Stayed during a weekend in Lisbon after watching the Rick Stein weekend away

The hotel was exactly what we needed. Great room, a great buffet breakfast, taxi rank outside. We requested a local restaurant recommendation from the reception team who recommended a fabulous local restaurant

Highly recommended for a weekend break. Will return

I was flying out of Berlin and my connecting flight to Chicago on TAP Air Portugal was after 23 hours from Lisbon. I selected Novotel Lisboa at Avenida Jose Malhoa for 2 reasons –
(a) My association with the Accor Group of Hotel as a member &
(b) I know that the Novotel Group serves lip-smacking amazing breakfast.

The short stay of few hours was amazing at the property. The reception was warm and quick. The room was simply huge with a massive attached bathroom. Toiletries provided were out of the world. Nearest underground metro was a short 10 mins walk away and close to a Shopping Mall including a multiplex. I was here on a Christmas eve so as luck would have it everything was closed. I had to survive on Starbucks alone.

But the next morning I was in for a treat shortly before my check-out. The breakfast was simply amazing with ample of choices to select from. The baked goods and savories were awesome too. Icing on the cake was the live station for Eggs and Pasta. All in all, a memorable stay. Would I stay here again – You bet I would.

Thank you, Team Novotel, for everything.

It might be an important location business wise, but definitely not from tourist point of view.
Long and complicated check in. My Diamond status was not recognised, i requested a room on a high floor, I was given floor 4. This was actually luck, because of the 3 lifts, one never worked and there were long queues going up and down. Wifi has been the worst ever found in a hotel. Breakfast was good, for 3 days they had no feed eggs "because they had no eggs".
Staff were doing their job, no sympathy, no smiles. The top was check out, were the lady requested an additional 280 € (from my rough checks, she owed me 400€), then she wanted to refund 120 .
Very unprofessional, no apologies, nothing.
Swimming pool with fifty water, no showers, housekeeping ladies were actually throwing us out of the room...
I didn't want to do this report, I requested the hotel NOT to apologise with their copy and paste answers. They did. It means they didn't read carefully what I have written.
Never, ever again in this hotel.
