We have just returned from a lovely 4 night break in Lisbon. If you are looking for a hotel with high standards and central access to the city, then look no further. The room was spotless, with a comfortable bed, high cleanliness standards and very spacious. Although we only had the tiniest of balconies this did not matter as there...

Disappointing. Overpriced rooms for what you get. Small dark room. Soiled dark industrial carpet. Carpet smelled like toliet cleaner. Croissants were like refrigerator rolls.. Otherwise food good. Staff very nice. Lisbon is way too crowded with tourists....it's ridiculous. This is in good location but rooms just not pleasant.

We stayed here 4 nights and really enjoyed it. Very near many restaurants and bars, as well as great shopping options. Easy walk to many cool sights. Very nice breakfast with a bar for drinks in the evening and a great terrace view. Would definitely recommend it. Very large, modern rooms.

This is a fully modernized hotel in the historic Chiado section. The location is ideal; you can walk to many attractions or catch a tram. (Taxis are cheap.) The views from the restaurant and terrace are superb; you overlook the heart of the commercial district, see the castillo on the opposite bluff, and gaze at the Tagus. Rooms with terraces...

We had a room with an outdoor terrace. What we didn't realize that the terraces were along the top floor of the hotel and offer panoramic views of the city, the castle, and the harbor. We were gobsmacked and immediately opened the champagne in the minibar. The "lift" where tourists climb a tower to get views were basically just to...

My husband and I stayed for two nights here. The views from our room and the hotel roof bar were stunning. You can't get a better view of the city. Gustav shucked us fresh, local oysters every evening as we watched sunset. He and the rest of the staff were so professional and helpful. The rooms were clean and the...

This hotel is walking distance from most all the major sights in Lisbon. We were even able to take two public elevators to the Castilo. All the shopping and restaurants and bars are in the neighborhood. The roof top bar has a view that is breathtaking. The breakfast is wonderful. Great stay!

This hotel is in the heart of the Chiado district, restaurants and bars from upmarket to hole in the wall all just steps away. We chose places at random and had excellent food, drink and fun live music, Not inexpensive but large comfortable rooms, worth getting the breakfast deal, and the staff were very helpful.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Hotel do Chiado is located in Chiado / Baixa, Lisbon's historic district, near Bairro Alto, Rossio Square and Avenida da Liberdade. Hotel do Chiado was built in the historic building of Armazéns do Chiado, nowadays a shopping center, which was completely restored by the famous architect Siza Vieira after the tragic fire of 1988. Located in Chiado, the trendiest, elegant and chic meeting point of Lisbon, this is the only hotel in town that offers rooms with private terraces and panoramic views of the Castle and the TagusRiver.
