The Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade, nestled in a prime spot on Avenida Liberdade, is widely recognized for its cleanliness and welcoming, elegant ambiance. Guests commend the friendly and attentive staff, though some suggest that service could be swifter. While the hotel's location is a highlight, earning praise for its convenience, opinions on the rooms and value are mixed. Some visitors express dissatisfaction with the room size and lighting, and many feel that the price doesn't quite match the offered quality. Despite this, the available amenities and the overall charm of the hotel still manage to impress.

I've stayed at Sofitel Liberdade 4 times, it has an excellent location, close to everything.
Upon arrival, the porters are courteous and efficient to collect your bags.
The receptionists are very attentive and friendly, but I don't know why they insist on serving you in English even though I say I'm Brazilian, I speak English, but a hotel in Portugal with a guest who also speaks Portuguese should speak in Portuguese, a receptionist who was from Eastern Europe told me that she felt more comfortable speaking English (?).
The rooms are a good size, the beds are comfortable, although the mattress in the room (337) is becoming deformed.
The breakfast I think is very good, varied, there is a station to make eggs and omelets to order, the croissant is great, the waitresses' service is efficient, attentive and polite. Here I highlight the waitress Juli, a Brazilian from Pará, who served us for the 3 days we stayed.
I also have to highlight the service provided by the maids, the room is always tidied twice a day, with slippers and water provided when turning off the bed at night. I especially highlight the night maid on 10/20, room 301, Karen, because my 7 year old granddaughter had an intestinal infection, and twice, at night, she made the bed and bathroom dirty, and Karen responded promptly, a professional but kind, attentive, affectionate way with my granddaughter, without causing embarrassment to either my daughter or my granddaughter, who were embarrassed by the situation, that was priceless.

I made a reservation trusting the Sofitel brand. Sofitel is a high-end brand, but Lisbon Sofitel is not luxurious, but it is a clean and comfortable place to stay. In Portugal, Bolt is cheap, so it was convenient to use Bolt when moving from the airport and train station to Sofitel. The hotel's location was not far from major tourist attractions, making it easy to walk or take the tram.
I went to Portugal and tasted a lot of egg tarts, and the egg tarts served at this hotel’s breakfast restaurant were really delicious!!! The pastry part was crispy and had a delicious nurungji taste (^^), so it was a taste that all Koreans would like. I only eat a little bit of breakfast, but I ate 3 or 4 of these tarts. (For reference, the size is very small.) If I was going to the airport the next day, I would have wanted to ask if I could buy some. (I couldn't do that because I was planning to stay at a hotel in front of the airport for a day and leave the country. :()
And the two female staff at the reception were really friendly and nice, but I can't remember the name of the person who helped me check in (ㅠㅠ), and the person who helped me check out was Christina^^ If your sister is in Korea, you can also use Small Talk. It was a fun time sharing. Next time I go to Lisbon, this is a hotel I want to stop by again.

We stayed six nights in this hotel, very well placed, near the center of Lisbon and opposite the metro. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room (luxury) was clean and comfortable enough. However, it is worth noting some negatives for a 5-star rating. The toilet is in the bathroom (and not except as often found elsewhere). Regarding television, there are several French channels but TV5 did not work and for F2 and F3, there was no picture (only sound), problem reported from the first evening and to which we never had an answer. Breakfast is quite complete (even if there are no small pancakes and only pancakes). On the other hand, hot drinks are served by the staff and it is necessary to wait systematically 10 to 15 minutes after the order: it would be better a good dispenser! Finally, if a free bottle of still water is available each evening for each occupant, a bottle of sparkling water would be welcome. As for the welcome drink for All members, I'm still waiting for it...

I have used Sofitel in many countries around the world and was very surprised at the experience we have experienced in Lisbon. I hate to complain having been part of the Accor Group for many years but very disappointed on our stay which is so unlike the top service we usually experience within Sofitel hotels and wider Accor group brands.

Firstly on check in queued and waited patiently which is fine but then noticed another couple arrive and the check in staff rush to serve and check them in leaving us waiting for a further 15 mins. Maybe I should have put my blazer and Panama hat on to be served a bit quicker. No apology or even explanation very strange.

Secondly your staff on conceige don’t seem to have time to handle your enquiries. With the exception of the Filipino staff member who was awesome and saved the day the others barely give you the time of day.

Lastly and cannot believe this but ordered an ironing board and iron twice over a period of 3 hours. Nothing arrived we needed to leave for dinner and checking with the reception staff on leaving was told they could not deliver an iron or ironing board for our return to the room unless we someone was in the room for safety reasons ? Not sure how an iron plugs itself in to be dangerous on its own and no hotel in the world would give you that kind of response ?

Sorry but room was comfortable and to Sofitel standard but service levels 3 star at best.

Disappointed long term Accor member will not return.

We spent five nights here for tourism/sightseeing. I chose the Sofitel based on availability and the reviews here and elsewhere, and it did not disappoint. Staff were very helpful and always ready to assist. We arrived from our overseas flight and had hoped for an early check-in but alas our room was not ready, so we had to kill some time. We stayed in one of the Prestige suites on an upper floor, facing the rear/back street and the small park nearby. The room was clean and comfortable, furnished with a sofabed, stocked minibar (with room for your own essentials), tea kettle, coffemaker, umbrella, and a desk and extra chair. The sofabed is long enough though that if you just wanted to lay or sleep on it, the average adult (say 5'10" or 5'11") could lay on it just fine. The room also had a nice balcony with a table and chairs. I was overjoyed at the soundproofing since I am a light sleeper. I barely heard any noise except for the occasional noisy motor from a car or two, but it was muffled and didn't bother me. I imagine rooms in the front would be similarly quiet although it faces the main avenue. One day we did hear a neighbor in their bath/shower but other than that it was wonderfully quiet. Breakfast was adequate though I don't know if it is worth the cost to pay for the buffet since the dining area is small and I felt like the options were kind of limited. They do have an a la carte menu so that might be a better value. We didn't have any other meals so I can't comment on the restaurant. The hotel is just a short walk outside of the more "happening" areas like Barrio Alto but it's in a great, quiet location. Minor quibbles were that the bathroom doors were small french door style (one set of doors to the bedroom and the living area) and there was a crack between where the doors meet, so you don't get complete privacy. This is something to consider depending on who you travel with. Despite this the bathroom was nice and full of extra amenities if needed. Also, there are no fun 'extras' in the hotel like a rooftop or pool, except the bar, but for me it was a tradeoff of having a quiet place to unwind and sleep, plus a comfy room and bed. The mattress we had also probably could use a replacement but it was still comfortable. We tried JNcQUOI across the way (eat at the lower level bar - no reservations) and Atalho Real nearby - both were great. I would stay here if ever in Lisbon again.

We spent 2 nights there and of our month away in Europe this stay was the worst . We had stayed there 12 years ago and went back because it was great then but never again . First of all the staff had no sense of urgency and one night at the bar it took 20 minutes to get our first drink and then when you did want to go it took ages to get the bill . The rooms are well appointed but the lighting is absolutely terrible and the room is so dark even with every light on . The location is good but the staff need to realise they are there to service the clientele and not fill in time .

Stayed here in July at the end of our trip to Portugal. Booked what seemed like a decent offer online. This offer was for families, and a second adjoining room was half price. However, when we got to check in we were told that all adjoining rooms were booked and we would have two rooms, separate, on the same corridor. When I explained that this would be an issue with our kids being 5 and 8 years old only, it didn't really seem to register with the staff. We were told that "requesting" an adjoining room was same as asking for a room on a high level. I must say I disagree with this. They lady gave us the room keys, saying "here is yours and here is the kids room keys". Im not sure she understood that you cant put a 5 and 8 year old, locked in a hotel room over night!

There was no offer to try and resolve this, no offer to speak to a supervisor to find some sort of solution. So while we were booked for 4 nights, we only paid for 1 at that point, pending us finding a differnt hotel that would allow us to have the rooms that we needed. We were told that we needed to decide otherwise our keys would de-activate by 11am the next day. So, at last minute it was impossible to find another hotel, as they were all booked. In the end we changed our flights, and checked out early!

The problem here is that our issue just seemed to be inconsequential to the hotel, but in reality it's a show stopper and resulted in us cutting our holiday short. We had to split one parent, one kid to each room, lights out at 7:30pm, day done, lying n the dark in a small room!

It didnt seem to bother the staff we were checking out early, and were not asked how our stay was when we checked out, and no follow up email from the hotel, hence writing my review here.

Other than that, the location is great, breakfast was good. Other reviews say the hotel is outdate, but I don't really agree with that. Just a shame that the team doesn't seem to have the greatest care for its guests. I note the other reviews on here, along with some other conversations I witnessed at the hotel. Shame!

Dear DXB_MJ, Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade on your recent visit to the city and for taking the time to share your experience. Regarding the issue about the connecting rooms please kindly note that we are not able to guarantee its availability at the time of booking, since we have a very small number of these types of rooms in our inventory. We are Accor Diamond members and had stayed in all the different hotels the brand offers except their flagship Sofitel, so we were looking forward to our stay in this one. We had good and not so good stays in Ibis, Adagio, Mercure, and M Gallery around Europe and the UK. Sadly this was not the stay we expected in a 5 star luxury hotel. Although our room was clean and spacious, there were several issue with the room. The sink did not drain properly and took a long time for it to empty, then the toilet leaked constantly, so the tank was always filling up. The walls seemed to be paper thing because the people next door had a dog with them and we could hear it bark and cry all night long. Every time someone made tea or coffee next door, it would trip the power switch in our room, so we had to call the front desk in the dark to come reset it. The mattress in our bed was so worn that is was hard to get out of bed because the mattress sank in the middle. Extremely uncomfortable beds. The hotel has 3 elevators and only one works properly. The one on the right works well, the one in the middle has a door that doesn’t close, and the one on the left has a door that doesn’t open. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the hotel need a better maintenance manager or new management altogether. We ate at the restaurant once and found it to be highly overpriced, so we did not return. The location is very good as it is close to most places of interest except Belem, but we took an Uber to Belem and solved that problem. We have stayed in several luxury (5 star) hotels, and this one does not compare well at all. We will return to Lisbon, but will not stay here.

We had a great stay in a very nice hotel. The staff is welcoming, friendly and good advice, from reception to breakfast and restaurant or for room service (especially for bedtime). We also enjoyed the welcome attention in the room and the upgrade to suite where possible. Only downside, touch-ups on wallpapers and walls are to be provided in some rooms or suites. The glass protection of the walk-in shower is not large enough and the bathtub is too small. However, the experience was very pleasant and we will definitely return to this hotel:) Thanks to the whole team:)

The Sofitel was absolute perfection! We were greeted at the airport after the driver waited over 3 hours for us due to delayed flights with a clean, luxurious vehicle with water inside. Upon arrival at the hotel, Andy welcomed us kindly and upgraded our room. We went for a joint birthday trip with my mother and I and they sent us a piece of birthday cake to celebrate. We felt so comfortable and at home and the staff was some of the most kind and helpful people we have ever encountered! The beds were extremely comfortable and we had an amazing night of sleep, before we explored Lisbon the next morning by walking, as the hotel is in the best shopping area of Lisbon. We will definitely be returning to the Sofitel and would very highly recommend it! Thank you to Andy and all of the other Sofitel staff members for such an amazing stay!

Hello there, Yes, rooms have coffee machines, which can also be used to boil water for tea. However, and surprisingly as it may seem for an alleged 5 star hotel, they don't offer you the bottled water to be boiled - stupid and stingy, isn't it?? Please read my very detailed review about the hotel and how it disappoints guests expecting a 5-star one, cheers, Vítor
