Palácio Príncipe Real opens its doors and welcomes guests to a luxury palácio, located in the heart of Lisbon's trendy Príncipe Real and with a large garden, swimming pool and a yoga room. All of the bedrooms give guests a flavour of times gone by when life was lived at a slower pace and afternoon tea was enjoyed in the drawing-room or garden.

It is challenging to articulate the pure brilliance of this hotel, particularly without repeating what previous reviewers have said. Like others, we have been privileged to stay in a number of Lisbon‘s fantastic hotels but the Palácio Principe just does things a little bit differently, and a little bit better. As far as I could see every irritating niggle from other luxury hotels around the world have been corrected by Miles and Gail and their teams creating this most beautiful tranquil oasis in the heart of such a fantastic city.
The staff are friendly and helpful, my wife’s massage up there with the very best, the rooms are elegant, contemporary and stylish. The food and drink….I think you get the picture!
The only mistake was that we only booked 2 nights and should have stayed longer. We will next time!

We visited this stunning hotel for 5 days as a family group ( ages 60 - 21yrs). The location was perfect allowing us to visit everywhere on foot and enjoy fabulous restaurants and shops close by . The hotel team made our stay so relaxing and provided great suggestions for local activities .
At the time we visited , the UK government had imposed a quarantine on our return and this almost caused us to rethink our visit . I am so pleased we stayed with our plan as the holiday was such a tonic . We felt very safe in the care of the hotel team . The standards of hygiene were extremely high and Covid precautions faultless ( in house laundry / hand sanitising facilities / staff training ).

The hotel and gardens have been tastefully and sympathetically restored , with chic interiors , stunning bathrooms and original features maintained . The garden is a real oasis of calm , offering shade when needed and an inviting salt water pool.

Lisbon has a lot to offer and we will definitely be back to explore further . We look forward to revisiting this gem of a hotel .

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful hotel. Situated in the Principe Real district which is a great area for restaurants, walking and shopping. The hotel is hidden away behind large doors next to the British Council and it is only when you step inside that you can see how it is a hidden oasis with a nice garden and a pretty pool area. Our bedroom was one of the most stunning rooms we have stayed in - everything was beautifully decorated with incredibly high ceilings. Everything worked really well - the lovely window shutters with views out to a typical Lisbon street, the air conditioning with the hotel logo, the great shower with carefully chosen toiletries. The room was quiet at night and we slept very well. The owners have clearly worked incredibly hard to create this beautiful hotel which also has lovely sitting areas and a bar. They hope to have a restaurant and a shop here as well in the future. There are lots of thoughtful touches like the scented candles around the hotel. We were pleased to be here as part of a soft opening so the room rates were very good value and a healthy breakfast was included. The staff are very friendly especially Patricia who welcomed us when we arrived. There is a small parking area behind the doors but it is easy to walk around Lisbon using the hotel as a starting point - as long as you are okay with the steep hills typical of the city. We would highly recommend this excellent hotel and hope to return in the future. A very relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

Palacio Principe Real is an exquisite 5 star experience. Housed in a beautiful palace building, each room is different, spacious with an incredible refined decoration, from the lamps to the bathtub. The location is very convenient to explore Lisbon, breakfast is excellent and the garden is a perfect space to relax. The staff was always very helpful, friendly and did everything they could to make our stay great and pleasant. Thank you all for making our stay in Lisbon unforgettable!

I would advise everyone i know, both friend and foe to stay at this boutique spot as it was a lovely oasis and quite frankly our favorite part of the trip. The food and culture in lisbon is terrific, but the service, hospitality and relaxation at this hotel was even better.

Each morning being greeted at our own leisure for breakfast with fresh juice, fruit and tasty breakfast dishes with ingridients made right from the garden. Speaking of the garden, the pool was an amazing spot to spend some time before hitting the streets.

I’ve never experienced an interior quite like this palace. A perfect contrast of old charm libson character with modern accents. Walking around the hallways or taking a rinse in their large bathtubs, you feel as though you’re in a Wes Anderson film.

Aside from the beautiful rooms, the kindness and attention each staff member has is truly the most magnificent part of your experience. The staff and owners coordinated everything from A to Z…airport pickup, early check in, suggestions for exploring….i will miss the people who work there just as much as the luxury room.

Thank you for the best stay, we will be back to try every room!

We had a great stay at this beautifully restored palace nestled in a quiet street within the highly coveted area of Principe Real. The Palacio's pool and extensive garden were our perfect retreat after exploring Lisbon and the staff was always attentive and ready to take good care of us. The hotel rooms are impressively decorated with contemporary furniture that seems to fit perfectly with the classical architecture of the building. Highly recommended.

An outstanding elegant hotel with exquisite private and public rooms and a delightful garden within walking distance of the historic centre and public transport (tram, bus, funicular). The staff are simply charming and delightful. The (British) owners keep a close eye on the management of the hotel and check that their guests are comfortable and are looked after superbly. Breakfast in this boutique hotel with enormous rooms is fresh and sustainable and the bar and lounge areas are well stocked and very comfortable. This is a gem of a new hotel to the Lisbon scene situated in serene Principe Real.

This hotel is every bit as wonderful as people say. The service from the young, enthusiastic staff is faultless. The hotel desk kindly booked restaurants and cars for us and happily moved all the bookings when air traffic control went down in the UK and we had to rearrange our stay. Each morning the front desk would enquire whether we needed any help with our days plan. Carla in particular has a wealth of knowledge about Lisbon and recommended a very enjoyable day for us.

We ate dinner in the beautiful oasis that is the hotel garden on two occasions. The menu is plant-based, which we would not normally choose, but the meals we had were tasty, well thought out and excellently prepared by the Chef. We also very much enjoyed ordering Portuguese wine from the very knowledgeable and charming, Miguel. Breakfast was lovely - plenty of fruit and a selection of healthy, hot breakfasts. We also really enjoyed relaxing in the pool area and were brought snacks and fabulous cocktails.

Gail, the owner, who met us arrival and promptly offered us a glass of wine, has done an excellent job restoring the Palacio. It is extremely tasteful and elegant, with plenty of different spaces for guests to relax, beautiful lighting and lots of flowers and nick knacks that make it feel more like a home than a hotel. Our room was very well appointed, with coffee and a free restocked mini bar so you could do coffee or have a beer or glass of wine. Housekeeping was excellent - the towels and sheets, that the hotel launder on site, were like new and the room was tidied and bed turned down twice daily like clockwork and when we were absent.

Every detail has clearly been thought out by Gail and her excellent team. Certainly one of the finest small hotels we have ever stayed in.

We were lucky enough to stay here recently and thought the sense of space, style and tranquility was amazing to find in the heart of old Libson. Luxury is taken seriously and the feeling of being totally pampered as a guest in this stylishly renovated Palacio was a perfect refuge after sightseeing and enjoying the immediate area of authentic old Lisbon. Our bedroom was was beautiful with all mod cons but being able to come back to relax in the garden and chill by the pool was just perfect. We will be back!

Palacio Principe Real was such a beautiful hotel! I would recommend it to any traveler looking to re-charge in a gorgeous palace tucked away on a quiet, residential block in the heart of Lisbon. It's a hidden gem with a beautiful garden and pool -- and the rooms and overall property is absolutely stunning. The owners paid so much attention to detail and it really shows. The staff is incredibly helpful, kind and knowledgeable about the city and made great recommendations with regard to reservations, etc. I can't wait to return!
