I was really pleased with this hostel. Despite being extremely busy when we arrived, with lots of guests checking in, everything was explained to us and we were checked in quickly and left to settle into our rooms. I was here with my brother but would have been happy staying here alone too. The staff were friendly and helpful and...

Sweet little hostel centrally located with a killer view. You can see the Castelo along with a nice sweeping vista of Lisbon. You gotta be okay with graffiti as there's lots of art around. Nice kitchen and clean showers. Gets frosty because of the wooden floors but overall comfortable and tidy! Beds were firm but didn't get in the way...

Great place to stay alone or with friends. Welcoming and friendly, free coffee and food available in the mornings. Great terrasses to watch the city with lots of seating. Would highly recommend. Stay at a very low price aswell.

We rented This is Lisbon Hotel´s amazing terrace to celebrate the Norwegian national day with all of the Norwegian exchange students we could find in Lisbon. The view from the terraces is amazing, the hostel is very clean and nice! The location is not down in the city center, but up near the castle, which is a really nice neighborhood,...

Nice rooftop terrace with view, friendly atmosphere and well organised hostel. Breakfast is not the best ever but it is not a big deal in a city like Lisboa full of cafe & restaurant. Wifi in living room terrace very good , weak in the rooms. I would definitely come back!

After spending 4 nights in this hostel, I can say it is one of the bests hostels I´ve ever been. We were in a 6-bed room (the one that is next to the terrace with views to the castle), and it was really great. The hostel is really clean, eco-friendly and the staff makes you feel like at home. You...

You can come unprepared to Lisbon and with the friendly tipps of the staff easily find your way around, see insider places or simply hang out on the beautiful terrace and relax! Even the 6-bed shared was really a 4-bed room because of a door in between and the atmosphere with all travellers was great. Also, there are lockers underneath...

I really liked staying here. Great location, but most of all the best atmosphere in the hostel during my trip so far. Beds are okay, kitchen is good, they serve breakfast from 8-10 which is also nice, free coffee and tea at all times. Like the fact that the office is in the living room and it seems small, but...

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
