Although out of town, there is easy conectivity with the central focus of the city - Rato metro station and bus services are about quarter of a mile away; while Estrela tram and bus services are just quarter of a mile in the opposite direction. Service in the hotel is impecable, with politeness and helpfulness being shown by every single member of staff that we encountered. If we were going to be picky, I would say the only fault we found was a slight stain on a pillow (within the pillow case). This could have easily been remedied by the use of pillow protectors. That aside, we found the cleaning regime and the front of house team to be excellent. We stayed in room 11 - furthest away from the lifts. Superb bed - slept like a baby! Be aware that bottled water in the mini-bar is charged for. I thougt this was a bit mean, given that we were not on a budget holiday. Would we stay again? In a heartbeat!…
if you wish to be away from the hustle and bustle of Lisboa, this is the place to be. Rooms are big. Modern design. Very comfortable bed. I wish I could give a better rating but some things were not up to level of 5 stars service: limited choice at breakfast, was expecting some local speciality and more choice of warm dishes. Most of the staff are trainees from the next door hotel management school, so you feel there is a lack of experience. not up to the level of other small luxury hotels I stayed but still an enjoyable stay
I can't think about a good hotel with 4 stars and poor cleanliness. Actually when I told the receptionist that it was quite dirty, she looked at me as if I was picky and pretentious. But I swear everything I found can be spotted by anyone. They gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne (Obv the cost of the bottle is less that 9 euros but anyway) but still it was disappointing. I'm paying a high price for a clean room :(
Hotel: no one greets you and helps with luggage Me: hm, not that luxury, but ok H: toilet is just in the right corner of your room and is made of see-thru tan glasses. Shower too, just in the other corner. So that’s effectively as if you sleep in the big bathroom. Me: omg, that’s.. contemporary H: old carpet on the floor Me: ok, not allergic H: beds stand in front of air conditioner, you can’t switch a/c on when you sleep Me: oh, ok, I open the window H: the breakfast is below average Me: ok, tastes differ H: you little..! No hot water in the evening after you’d been walking all day, he-he Me: now you convinced me, that’s when I give you bad marks and write a review on booking and TA Summary: so far from being luxury, I don’t see first “L” of it. I’m disappointed.
This hotel is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the world but it has some ways to go before achieving luxury status. Turning a school into a hotel sounds like a cool concept but you can’t just throw new furniture and mix it with second hand flea market furniture and call it chic and cool. We stayed in a Jr Suite, the room itself is massive to the point that it feels empty. The cleaning crew basically makes the bed and refresh the towels but disregard anything else. We came back to half messy room after it had already been cleaned up. We received only one small soap for the entire 4 nights stay and only two towels until we had to request more. The staff is friendly but you can tell that most of them are students. They have a good concept but there are some serious screws to tighten up. …
