Unless you are British, you might not feel completely comfortable here. We didn't. We felt like we had to whisper at breakfast. No one says hello. Everyone keeps to themselves. But our room was fabulous - very large with great room service from the bar. And the turn down service was the nicest I have ever seen. I have posted...

I can find no fault with the Hotel Britania. The staff organised our new year's eve for us in a fab restaurant on the waterfront. Ideal for the fireworks. Nothing was too much trouble. We all felt very comfortable. The rooms were lovely, large and styled with some very nice art deco furniture. We all loved staying here and would...

My wife and I spent 5 nights at the hotel for our anniversary week. We really couldn't find anything to complain about. Our room was massive and very comfortable. The friendly staff really made the stay a pleasure and the nice touches like complimentary afternoon tea and port in the evening really added to the experience. Breakfasts were also great...

Britainia might seem to be located a bit far from the city center but if you're looking for a quiet area and love to walk, this is the place. Staff is truly friendly and the rooms are exquisitely decorated and prepped.

We stayed for 8 nights and I can't think of a thing that we could complain about. The room was large and comfortable. The library (which also served as a food area) had plenty of books in many languages that could be enjoyed either in the comfortable seating there or in one's room. And the buffet breakfast (open for 5...

Lovely hotel located in the heart of the city. The room and facilities were perfect and excellent staff who could not have been more help full (especially the barman). Decided not to have breakfast in hotel and would recommend Mad Mary cafe just up the road for breakfast. Excellent tapas restaurant too only 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The...

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in! Everything was perfect. The Art Deco style and decor is beautifully restored. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful the bed huge and comfortable. The breakfast very good. The extra touches really make this a special place - breakfast available until midday, complimentary tea and pastries every afternoon from 5-9pm,...

Excellent hotel, with staff who were friendly & helpful at all times. The hotel has been refurbished very well, retaining the beautiful 1940's features. Wonderful breakfast. The bedroom was very spacious, with tea/ coffee making facilities. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We can only echo the other recent reviews. From check in to check out everything was first class. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful throughout. The room a very good size, comfortable and clean. Wi fi was one of the best hotel wi fi we have ever had anywhere. Location good, breakfast very good and sensibly served until 12...

The property is a well maintained 1940's hotel that has kept its character. The guest rooms are a generous size with looby leading through separate doors to the bedroom and bathroom. There were many many positive features such as a kettle with tea and coffee (not normal in most of Europe outside the UK), coat hooks in the lobby (too...
