I booked a last minute room here under duress: My elderly mother had fallen and broken her hip, and I needed to return to Lisbon quickly to cancel the remainder of my trip and schedule a flight home. The staff here was very helpful with calling airlines and making reservations, but the hotel itself is gorgeous! It has been kept...

...the places that you book on a whim and never forget. As Janelas Verdes is definitely such place! It feels and looks authentic; the staff - especially the lovely reception Lady - are friendly and helpful! The rooms are of good size and the bathrooms are huge! Everything is just right. From the complementary Port in the room, the complementary...

Unique and historic hotel with welcoming and helpful staff. We had a river view room which was lovely and had a great bathroom. Breakfasts were delicious and could be had in the courtyard garden which was very pretty and tranquil. There was a lovely library on the top floor with a terrace and honesty bar - perfect at the end...

From the moment you arrive, the quality of the service is evident. My friendly, multi-lingual staff, and the quality of the service continued through our three night stay. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, with furnishings in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The decanter of port in the room was very welcome, as was the unlimited tea/coffee...

Checked in Tuesday 14 Mar, out 17th. This hotel is a treasure. So many businesses talk about service, and haven't got a clue what it really means- here the service was discreet, understated, but just right. As for the facilities side - breakfast was excellent, comprehensive and available from 7.30 till midday. Our room was excellent, comfy, roomy and well equipped.Top...

This is a charming, nicely located hotel with great atmosphere. Rooms are nice and one has the option of asking for a river view. Internet is free and adequate. Breakfast is great. The hotel offers complimentary port in the room, and coffee, tea and cookies in the library. Alcoholic beverages are honor based. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful....

A terrific hotel - genteel, stately. The breakfast room could be a little bigger - or time your breakfast time to avoid the rush; you have until noon anyway! Very civilised. The bathroom I had was huge, and there was also a small balcony with a bit of a view of the harbour. Location is great, all flat to the...

The little hotel looks like a big old and elegant villa, very well cared-for with very nice and comfortable common-rooms. The hosts and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We liked the whole atmosphere very much and enjoyed to sit in the library with a cup of tea and have the look all over the waterside. Our room with...

We stayed here twice, and enjoyed both times. The rooms are a bit dated, but the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is good, the rooftop library and patio with honor service bar and snacks, and excellent care of guests made both stays fantastic. Tips - Ask in advance to reserve parking and try for a side or water facing room...
