I just loved Travellers House. It is so pretty, comfortable and cozy. The location is just so amazing, right in Rua Augusta!! The staff is so nice and helpful, always ready to explain things 2 u! The breakfast was so good as well, just like the funny ladies cooking (I loved the blond one). I think also that the activies...

Very pretty rooms. Beds are already made. Bathrooms are big and clean. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Very helpful and friendly staff. They made you feel like being at home. The night activities were very interesting and gave us a good idea about what life is like in Lisbon. It was nothing like one of these ordinary, dull pub crawls. The...

What else can I say except this is probably the best/nicest/chillest hostels I have ever stayed in. The common area is awesome for hanging out and meeting people, and they do something different every night so everyone can meet and do whatever it is. Alex is the man and is usually around chillin, cooking up some Chorizo for everyone, definitely...

Stayed for two nights at Travellers House at the end of February. Had a great time. Was warmly received by Joao (hope I got the spelling right!) and shown around the hostel. I stayed in the 4 bed dorm and found the room comfortable. The beds are big, cleanliness is good and breakfast amazing (have the pancakes!). They even hosted...

My friend and I have been at the travellers house last year and really - it is so nice! I would always recommend this hostel. It is really central in rua augusta, a big lovely street. When we looked out of our window we could see the sea and hear the music down in the streets, but at night time...

This hostel is more like a hotel; clean, well decorated, amazing breakfast included, private, spacious. We stayed here for a week in a suite (private bathroom) and it was great. Our room faced the street & was a bit noisy, but not enough to keep us up at night. Made some great friends from all over the world during our...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
