We stayed in a double room with river view and private bathroom. The price was good, the room was clean and the view simply beautiful. Not so many choices for breakfast but if you don’t mind having some milk with cereal or bread with butter and gem, you’ll be ok. You can take the tube from the airport and it...

Good location, good prices, excellent staff, nice and clean rooms with gorgeous view. It was a very nice place to stay. The breakfast could have a little more options. I was a great experience. I would go here again.

Staff not professional, wifi not working on the 2nd floor, really noisy room until 1 a.m. The room with private bathroom itself it's quite nice, however it does not have a direct window. If you need fresh hair, you have a window on the entrance.

Really a pleasant stay. The location right in Alfama is convenient to the Fado houses, the Fado Museum and the Praca do Comercio. The hostel is near Terreiro do Paco station on the Azul (Blue) Line, so it's easy to get around the city and to / from the airport. We stayed in a room with private bathroom and a...

I was staying in a 4-bed-dorm and enjoyed the stay. The hostel looks nice and it was very clean! It is very close to the City Center. The breakfast was fine, like a typical hostel breakfast with bread, jam and coffee. Not a big variety but as I stayed for a really cheap price, I have all in all nothing...

First impression is "are you sure??" Once you climb the steep staircase, hostel has a cool commune vibe. Contrary to TA description, breakfast is 3€ unless specifically included in your room selection, there is a 1€ per person bed tax that must be paid in cash, plus a 10€ key deposit. Location is good, lots of walking but you can...

This hostel is located in Alfama, close to the river and the main train station (Santa Apolonia) and is an old house but with very nice and colourful decorations. Even if the days were extremely hot the hostel was quite cool. My room was in the fourth floor and had a small balcony and river view. Very nice!

We had a very nice stay at this hostel in the heart of Lisbon. The building is located in the Alfama district, within walking distance from most of the points of interest. Parking places are available on the street in front of the building. Our room was located on the third floor with a view to the back of the...

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
