Set on the absolute waterfront of Cascais’s dramatic Atlantic coastline, Farol Hotel reflects the unique charm of the township. Delightful old-world houses and cobbled streets frame a graceful bay on Portugal’s spectacular Estoril Coast to tell the story of a bygone era. The capital, Lisbon and the international airport are an easy 35-minute drive along excellent roads. A local train also runs between the city and Cascais. Lisbon is served by full service and budget airlines from all the major European hubs, which include Frankfurt, Paris, London and Zurich plus Stockholm, and Moscow. Arrive fuss-free and in style at Lisbon International Airport with a pre-arranged Farol Hotel limousine to meet you and transfer the short scenic trip to Cascais. As a proud member of prestigious Design Hotels, Farol Hotel is a wonderfully eclectic composition of adventurous architecture that embraces a remodeled 19th century private mansion that was once owned by the Count of Cabral, together with unique contemporary additions. The result is an inspire union of the old and the new. The Farol Hotel has a non-smoking policy in all its areas.

Had dinner in the restaurant. It was EXCEPTIONAL. The barrata was delicious and desserts amazing. You just have to try the creme brulee too. We met the Chef to compliment him and he described where the ingredients were from and why the dishes were created the way they were. The waiters and customer service was five star. The setting quite breathtaking on the Atlantic Ocean. Highly recommend eating here.

We stayed 7 nights at this nice-located hotel - and had dinner several evenings in the two restaurants at the hotel. Both with super-kitchens - and super service. The hotel recommended trip to Sintra - a great day with a lot of nice views and historical buildings ... hired a tuctuc for 3-4 hours - can recommend it! Another day we went by train (5 min. walk from the hotel - 40 min. by train) to Lissabon - another great city - and with good recommendations from the Farol Hotel. We'll look foreward to visit this hotel again!

The Farol Hotel was a lovely hotel in a beautiful location overlooking the ocean and only a short walk into the town. From arrival through to departure the service was friendly and polite, the room was very comfortable and immaculately kept and the food onsite delicious. We love boutique small hotels and Farol does have that quality. The only downside is that they do welcome children, which doesn't quite match with the general upmarket ambience when there are kids screaming and splashing in the pool. That and attracting plenty of smokers (with no separate smoking area) by the pool can mean that it is not the most peaceful of boutique hotels we have visited. Another tip to the staff (for the benefit of us vegetarians out there) might be to serve the bacon at breakfast separately to any other foods in a separate dish. Thanks for the stay!

Dear Guest, Your generous comments regarding your stay at Farol Hotel are much appreciated and we thank you for taking the time to share them with us. It is the highest compliment to receive praise from guests in appreciation of our efforts to make every stay truly enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your opinion about the smoking area, we may consider implementing your idea. As for for the kids, we are very careful with families staying with kids and make sure the parents control the behaviour of their children, exactly to preserve the peace and rest of other clients. Children are not allowed to be at the pool without the supervision of their parents. Unfortunately, of course it can happen that they may become a bit louder, which immidiately is controled by our staff. Concerning your comment about bacon, it is not very clear what you mean, since we do not serve it with any other food together, but in a separate reservoir. If you wish to specify your feedback, please do send us an email to social@farol.com.pt. We look forward to welcoming you back soon and to creating more special moments and unique experiences. With kind regards, Ana Maria Tavares, Managing Director

We booked a weekend stay for our Wedding Anniversary, when we arrived the reception staff were friendly and welcoming, our room was not ready so we decided to have a drink in the pool bar. The setting of the hotel is fantastic, the views superb, the service at the pool bar is poor, very slow. I understand that some staying in a five star resort don't want to be constantly interrupted by staff asking if the food is OK or if they need a drink, but proper training would allow staff to be attentive without being intrusive, and to recognise when their service might be appreciated. When our room was prepared it was for us a disappointment, I know it is a 'design hotel' but we walked into a room which was gloomy and dark - grey, black and red might be contemporary and suit a swish Manhattan hotel but not in an historic building with sea views and next to a historic monument. Walking up the stairs to the room was not a pleasant experience - black walls, black carpets and poor lighting - when coming in from the sun not good, an accident waiting to happen! The restaurant setting is wonderful, breakfast was good - nothing special but good, the staff were again pleasant but not well trained. Very little interaction with guests, right down to removing plates when finished. Sorry but there needs to better customer care and training and for the price advertised no way is it worth it. The drinks and food are expensive and nothing special and the coffee machine in the room, whilst a nice touch, is not free you are charged for coffee!!! The standard of cleaning was poor, glasses and cups left dirty when beds turned down - that is not five star service. The bathroom, 98% matt black from floor to ceiling was depressing, the leatherette covering of headboard and dressing area was ill-fitting and looked 'cheap'. I have stayed in many hotels (in Portugal and worldwide) and complimentary tea and coffee is normally standard. The hotel has potential, but the décor and poor training didn't make it welcoming that we wanted to spend time, other than sleeping, in the hotel. sorry not for me, as a regular traveller I like to have new experiences and stay in different places but and I don't think we would go back to that hotel.

Hello Do all Seaview rooms have useable balconies please? Many thanks
No they don't all have usable balconies, some of them are 'Juliette balcony', ring the hotel to ensure you have one of the room above the pool with the balconies that have table and chairs. They are the best.

Best way to get around is by renting a car with GPS if you planing to visit Lisbon. I would not use the train; is my advice. Good luck
